  1. Something just popped up to my south over the estuary. Looks like we are go!
  2. Just parked up at Thorndon on the way back from shopping which looks out WSW. Hazy and humid, definitely looking a bit unstable, some cu starting to build out towards the capital. Think we are going to pop home and grab some lunch and then come back with the camera and stuff.
  3. I've got tonorrow off so will be out with my tiny copilot and cameras if it looks worthy. Tonne perfectly honest I'd like the cape to be a bit higher, and I think I'm still a bit wary of the instability being shunted off too fast. But I'm hopeful!
  4. We were just a bit too far inland for the bulk of last nights fun and games, although that said we had some seriously loud thunder, lightning wasn't as prolific as I thought it would be though. all to play for today, my station is reading 17c already so hopefully the heat will crank up enough to spark something of interest off later on.
  5. I've done worse, I took him on a chase when he was a couple of weeks old! tbh I'd be out in the car with a stream running tonight, but bank holiday = wine, so I'm hoping it comes to me!
  6. So I put the toddler to bed In Our room tonight because his room faces south west and is always pretty good in these kind of MCS situations. So it's a double whammy for me if this busts because I'm going to have to sleep in a cot bed if nothing comes of it. (And have set the camera and GoPro up too....) fingers crossed. I think this (the first big cell) might not be the one for me tonight, I think others will pop up and I'll catch a homegrown.
  7. Think I'm going to take my chances with east anglia tomorrow and run up the M11 if things look a bit juicy. That way we can hit Lakenheath and go jet-hunting if the weather won't play ball. We'll be running a stream if it's good!
  8. I think it will really depend on location and elevation to be honest - we are a bit more inland so tend to be quite lucky with North Sea Showers. It's 2c here with a 0c DP and it's still not sticking... yet! Also depends how hard it comes down I think as to whether you'll get any accumulation - the Rain -> snow event the other week was a good example of a short burst of heavy snow giving a covering in spite of the ground being totally soaked and unfrozen. long winded way of saying I don't know! Keep your eye on the radar and best of luck!
  9. Snowed pretty much non stop from 5am ish through to 2pm, then a quick break and it's started to come down quite hard - not big flakes but small ones in large abundance it's not settled much although we did have a good covering earlier...
  10. There's a dedicated thread for commentary on BBC/Met forecasts, please could we refrain from one line imby posts in here carry on!
  11. without wishing to nag, some recent posts would probably be best suited to a PM conversation or the banter thread.......if we could keep on topic for the imminent runs, that would be super! Thanks!
  12. Please please can we cease the one liners that are nothing to the discussion aside from causing unnecessary questions? And possibly some over reactions/wind ups? It's really busy in here tonight and it would be super if we could keep things civil and informative. thanks, as you were.
  13. Just going to drop in now and kindly ask that we keep to model discussion and anything specific you feel that needs to be said to another member that isn't model discussion or is more personal for that individual is done via PM. C'mon guys we are all a bit fraught with the chase for cold, and I get that nerves are frayed, but please keep it civil.
  14. Aaaaaaand back to the models. (Doesn't include rounds of Model Catchphrase either....) Thanks
  15. Given that we are seeing snow right now, tonight, this early in the season, and there are plenty of indications of interesting things to come - far more so than previous years- the despondency this evening is surprising - maybe some reverse psychology at work... I suppose I'd just like to remind everyone that we are not in the same position as we've been in for the last few winters and although it's natural to be cautiously excited, and indeed balanced, I don't think it's necessary to pick every single run to bits waiting for it to all go awry..
  16. Some very nice towers popping up as I was driving up the a12. I think at least some of us over this side of the country might get lucky - beautiful structure of nothing else! I do love a bit of surprise convection!
  17. Just left the office and can see some attempts at bubbling cloud. Still very hot, so wouldn't surprise me if we have a little bit of a convective result from the heating this afternoon....
  18. It's that time of year again! Who's heading to Fairford next weekend? Have you seen the very exciting arrivals this week? I'm taking our one year old, so we are just going for the day, (Sunday) but he's a seasoned airshow attendee, we went to several last year with him
  19. Seriously thick air outside! We had a good light show about 11 and then some cracking gunshot thunder about 2ish? I couldn't get out of bed to look because my little one was asleep with us, but my god the rain! All routes into London were blocked via Liverpool Street and the roads were horrendous. I came back to work from home and I'm glad I did because I discovered that our roof has developed quite a severe leak into the kitchen. Quite drizzly here now, I've got the heating on to try and dry the floor out (!). Might actually try and set up the camera properly for tonight, I didn't want to hex things last night!
  20. Lightning here too, very distant and very distant rumbling.
  21. I've got tops, and that lovely yellow sky, it's very very still here tho... It's the deep breath before the plunge. I was on a cross channel ferry three days ago annoyingly enough..
  22. I can't see anything but a very distant couple of tops, can you get a pic?
  23. debating whether to head towards the east Thames estuary or just sit tight and let it come to me. Going to be a radar job tonight I think. Pretty opressive in London this afternoon.
