  1. Better half has just gone to the pub in the car which frequently breaks down and has a faulty heater. If he invokes the law of sod then we'll be in for a good night here!! in all seriousness, I just want my little boy to see snow for the first time. Even if it means waking him up. Even if he normally doesn't sleep ever......:D
  2. Without wishing to sound like a stuck record, one line commentaries are best served in the banter/moans thread. I don't realistically think anyone here can confidently call how this week will play out based on the scrambled information we have. So let's just let it unfold!
  3. Little bit of context to one liners and rumours would be most useful folks, links? Charts? Thanking you...
  4. Let's keep it friendly please chaps! (and Ideally to Model discussion...) Thanking you!
  5. Well this is odd- I'm sure I can hear rumbling here, but blitzortung and the nw detector are telling me otherwise, we don't usually get anything from the channel storms this far north,
  6. Well, it seems there advantages to being awake all night with a grumpy baby! radar looking very impressive, blitzortung lighting up like a Christmas tree too... Bet that south Coast view is good tonight, anyone down there with a camera? Think, it'll be a little while before we see anything, hopefully it'll make up for the lack of visibility for the meteor shower....
  7. 33.1c here, just watching the clouds to the south blow in. It certainly feels ripe, would put it on par with a juicy Nebraskan morning, as Paul said, the crapvection is rife! in spite of us Essex folk not quite in the Estofex L2, I'm just going to keep an eye on the radar....
  8. It rained, but she still turned out! Very poignant - the crowd at Southend were silent as she approached- must admit to being a bit choked up at the end!
  9. Anyone catch XH558 on her tour yesterday? We're heading down to Southend airport to see her fly past our local Vulcan. Hoping this cloud dissipates though...
  10. Ooh! That's a peach! Great on the stream.
  11. No worries it's something I've got a bit of experience in, so drop me a line if you've got any questions!
  12. Aviation industry might be worth a look if you like aircraft etc - there's opportunity to cover meteo stuff with NATS, the big airlines and airports, Dept of transport etc. Otherwise the Environment Agency might be worth a look, all the civil service jobs are listed on one website if you google it, might give you a few ideas?
  13. Hail and Thunder here, looking at the radar it seems to be joining up the little cells between us here in Essex and the one across into South London thru Croydon. Looking south past the cloud there's some pretty beefy tops in the distance.
  14. Have a blast team! Will be watching from the sofa
  15. Duxford VE celebration air show is this coming weekend, with a selection of warbirds and some louder contemporary bits. Hoping that the high pressure builds in time and we have some beautiful skies for it.
  16. Just about to post the same, keep seeing some absolute corkers!
  17. I suspect you weren't buying organic hair products and bandanas tho Nick! Chick- stuff aside, We picked up a go pro last year and that was at least £100 cheaper than here. Yo have to pick your buys, I agree not everything is competitive. But there are bargains to be had!
  18. If I had banned myself from walmart, I think I would have easily saved myself several hundred quid. It's just SO CHEAP. Agree with Quentin tho, the portion sizes with the food are vast, and I'd quite often just eat an appetiser for my main and it'd be dirt cheap. (So would make up for it with Fishbowl Margaritas). Quite often we ended up at places during happy hour, premixed drinks, some cocktails, local moonshine, beer etc usually come in at a good price, but if you are a wine drinker or like a specific spirit, then you might get your shirt pulled off a bit - JD & Coke being a good example, so you're prob better off getting your liquor at duty free and just buying mixers when you're there.
  19. Currently looking into a babysitter for 2 weeks.......
  20. Nebraska was very good to us last year, fingers crossed she delivers again!
  21. Corking background CGs there! Fingers crossed for you all today
