  1. About the only road I can see from my window, when the rain stops I will go and have a look and see what else is underwater.
  2. Yep, definitely - I still can't get over the intensity of the rain. Not sure how clearly you can see, but that road is under about a foot of water. Cars are conking out and most roads are quite similar.
  3. Ian tweeted last hour "Some interesting cloudbase structures/lowering under these storms... keep eyes peeled for any funnel cloud photo opportunities!" so it's possible that it was
  4. Hopefully this one won't have as much rain with it. I don't know how much more the roads can take before it starts coming into the house. They do seem to be quite local. Both weather stations in the town repiorting wildly different rainfall totals and intensities, and both seem be dwarfed by the amount we've had here.
  5. The weather station that is a little bit east of here seems to be getting it now. 4mm/min being recorded there, and this has been going on for a while now. People in their gardens with brooms trying to keep the water out, the road is underwater, and the hail and rain seems to have broken through our conservatory roof. It's stopped for now, hopefully some of this rain can sink in.
  6. I'm quite sure the radar isn't showing the intensity of this rainfall. Absolutely astounding totals here I would imagine.
  7. WOW! Never in my entire life have I seen rain this hard! Truly amazing! The road is flooded, and the water is up to the front garden.. It's like a monsoon out there!
  8. A couple of rumbles, a couple of flashes, and some very heavy rain here! We now have above average rainfall for the month, despite 19 days with no rain at the start of the month.
  9. Rain has picked up now, and it looks set to be that way here for quite a while yet. I'm just hoping that there's some thunder embedded into it.
  10. That would give some copious amounts of rainfall! It seems the band of rain that is in the SW is slowly edging east . Earlier on it looked as if it would miss us, and now it's coming right in this direction. Going to be interesting to see where the worst of it hits.
  11. I think Radar watching will prove more vital than any of the models. None of them seem to be able to agree on the intensity or how far west the main ppn is.
  12. Dewpoint has started shooting up here in the last hour, and the radar looks promising!
  13. DP here only 13.5, but rising currently. The squall line looks like it has intensified, so I'm staying hopeful.
  14. Belgium is meant to be under there somewhere! Sferics in the Bay of Biscay too. Hopefully there is some hope for us!
  15. I agree that even if the charts that we have seen today verified, we would probably not see 40C being breached due to cloud cover from thunderstorms that would be spawned in the heat, and the fact that it is only a one day occurance and doesn't have much time to set in. However, it does serve as a reminder that all of the ingredients necessary for those sort of temperatures to be breached are possible, all they have to do is happen at the same time ad it could happen. I don't think it will happen any time soon, but I think it definitely could happen sometime in the near-ish future.
  16. So it looks like Saturday night could be a wet one, especially in the east of our region? http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/feeds/23463966 Assuming this doesn't change and it completely miss us..
  17. I think that it's mostly over now for Swindon, unless anything else pops up, which can't be ruled out. Not that I can complain. Some great loud thunder, fork lightning, and over an inch of rain!
  18. It's already the wettest day of the year here with 23.4mm of rain in the last hour from the cells that have passed over. I can see surface water flooding being a serious issue in some places soon.
  19. 17mm of rain in the last 30 minutes. A lot of surface water flooding, and the water is just sitting on top of the grass not able to sink in properly.
  20. Flooding will definitely be a problem if this keeps up. Torrential rain on and off for about 20 minutes, and the drains are struggling. Thunder is sounding rather distant, but looking at the radar, it seems that more may be on the way!
  21. Shotgun thunder, fork lightning, and Last nights was a little louder than this storm, but this one had more flashes and heavier rain. About 5mm in the last 5 mins.
  22. Set my alarm for 5:30 to try and catch some action. Is there still potential for our neck of the woods? The radar looks like most has moved north of us. Scrap that, I guess the distand rumbles speak for themself.
  23. Distant rumbles to the south of here, but they just don't sound like they are getting any closer. Still feeling very muggy
