  1. Going off AWD's post above, although we look set to avoid the worst of the winds, 65mph+ gusts are possible along the coast, which is still potentially damaging. I've had 6.7 mm from that rain this morning, takes me to 69.1mm for the month, that could easily be doubled by the end of the week. 350.8mm for 2014 so far. Beautiful blue skies atm, which makes a pleasant change.
  2. Ian F just mentioned the S word in a latest tweet. @fergieweather: W COUNTRY Much uncertainty on regional detail this week but Tues-Weds & later in week indicative of complex blend of heavy rain & some snow. @fergieweather: W COUNTRY Threat of any snow is especially uncertain due to position & development of low centres. More on this as f'cast detail improves... @fergieweather: W COUNTRY CONTD However, irrespective of any wintry element (esp. higher ground), further rain remains key forecast concern in broad sense.
  3. Not a pretty 18z spilling out from the GFS, three Nasty systems almost within 48 hours of each other and we aren't talking in the depths of fl either
  4. That would be the same shower i was caught in whilst in Ferndown at about 3:50pm then, temperature drop was extreme, went from 8.5C to 3.5C, granted it was the car thermometer, but 5 degrees is 5 degrees, looked like sleet was mixed in as well.
  5. Getting windy again here, not been to bad here to be honest, had 4.1mm of rain, wind is nothing like it was on Wednesday.
  6. The Road To Portland will almost certainly close over the weekend due to the high wind/seas. I would be very careful, for example, take a look at post 31 i think it is, showing a video of waves breaching 30ft sea defences, not to be messed with.
  7. 19mm here today, finger of precip in the channel seems to be aiming straight at my area. Probably won't fall to far short of an inch today when all finished.
  8. No enough now mr/mrs weather maker, although a little bit of me still wants that to happen, purely from an I love wild weather perspective.I just think enough is enough now, people are really suffering. But the weather will do, what the weather will do.Thanks you lot for your kind words, I've left the wife in the hospital, I'm home now playing the waiting game, hopefully tomorrow little Charlie George shall make an appearance!Stay safe everyone. Oh, and I had 14.7mm today, some crazy variations given the small region. Still was expecting more.I Can confirm Mr and Mrs Karlos are the proud owners of a new Baby boy, Charlie. At 4:39am.Over and out
  9. Sandbanks bay closed at both ends Branksome Chine Poole Park Hamworthy Park completely flooded, but I didn't get a photo of it, plenty on the Bournemouth Echo website.
  10. Induction process has started, he seems quite happy where he is ATM, so 1 night in the hospital at least. Hopefully arrival tomorrow
  11. Just after using my 3G to post pics, grhh. Might try again if I can be bothered in a bit.
  12. Sandbanks bay Branksome Chine Other end of Sandbanks bay closure Poole Park Hope this works, done from my phone on 3G
  13. Well I managed to get to the sea front, pretty mad at 12pm. The bay road to sandbanks was closed, the sea was breaching the sea wall and the roads impassable. some pretty serious beach erosion at Branksome chine and the same at Sandbanks when I cam back via compton acres. Poole Park pretty bad as well. Managed to get some pics, hopefully I will have time to get some uploaded later. Wind dropped off, but it seems to be picking up again now.
  14. Should be ok in New Forest, just avoid the Ford's.Travelling to the New Forest should be fairly un-problematic as you'll use the main Motorway networks all the way to the end of the M27, and then you are at the Forest. Bit soggy though, so I'd not bother with the picnic blanket.Enjoy
  15. Very windy in Upton, Poole only down the road from Tower Park, although we seemed to have a lull for 15 mins or so, kicking back up again now.
  16. Yes complete mayhem, as they have shut the blandford road due to a sewerage leak, so the only way out of Hamworthy is over Poole bridge(s) That's going on the list
  17. Well well well, I was looking forward to going to the sea front tomorrow to watch old mother nature (from a safe distance of course), but looks like I'll be stuck in a Maternity unit in Poole, as my wife is being induced, I asked if it could be put off until Thursday but apparently that comment is frowned upon..... how selfish. So stay safe everyone and enjoy the ride if you can. No doubt I'll be posting in here for the foreseeable at 1am, 3am, 5am in the coming weeks.
  18. 23.3mm fell IMBY yesterday, taking my total for January to 283mm 28 Rain days Wednesday looks plain UGLY Just had a moderate hail shower pass through
