    Heavy snow here now,changed from rain very quickly.Cars already have a covering and starting to settle on the roads too.

    Just starting to rain here in Denby,just north of Derby.I guess it could turn to snow should it turn heavier.

    The storm, snow and winds of late December 1990 were bad around here.The snow clung to power cables which then snapped under the sheer weight.I remember waking up at 3 am and watching the blue power flashes in the pitch black out my bedroom window.My neighbour was interviewed by BBC Radio Derby the next day and we had no electricity for the best part of 2 weeks!!.Snow depths were 24 inches in Derby.

    January 1987 saw a band of snow move up from the south,bought on by gale force SE winds.Theres a BBC weather forecast on YouTube titled the big freeze.

    A fairly cloudy morning with light patchy rain around lunchtime clearing to leave a cold clear afternoon.A heavy evening shower made the temperature drop from 6 degrees to 4 degrees which briefly turned the rain to sleet before clearing.Clear skies now.

    Was at a wedding in South Derbyshire today and was hit by two sharp showers.The skies to the south and west looked spectacular at around 4pm but nothing was to develop.But in the sun it felt more like July than October.Had a good storm on Wednesday so can't complain really.

    Another flash and crash here,was half asleep but I still saw the lightning a really sharp crack of thunder too.Pretty heavy rain too with very dark skies.

    Well that was short but sweet!!.5 or 6 good flashes of lightning and gunshot thunder,with a mixture of heavy rain and hail.Very gusty winds,the whole event probably lasted 10 mins!!

    Very autumnal,strong southerly winds,the heavy rain has moved through with 14mm falling.The current temp is a cool 9.9 degrees

    A low of 2.5 here.with the first ice of the year on the car.Now clouding over!!

    Another 6mm of rain today with a high of 14.4c.Dull dire and dank spring to mind.At least the NE has died down.

    Dull,damp with drizzle.6mm of rain overnight,with a minimum temp of 11.3 degrees.Current temp 13.4 degrees in a fresh NE wind.

    I checked the temp at 11.30 last night and it was reading 7.9 degrees.The skies remained clear all night and the minimum temp was 0.8 when I checked at 9am.So pretty cold for August!!

    I remember a clip on the BBC news from winter 2010,when a couple are being interviewed in a raging blizzard about the depth of the snow.Out of nowhere came this almighty flash and crack of thunder,to which the reporter said " well I never would have expected that!"

    Think I can see that shower to the north of me.Very spectacular dark black clouds,think they will move just to the east of me though.Been a pleasant day so far really.

    Keep losing Sky signal here, can only presume it's from the intensity of the rain in certain areas!!

    Cool cloudy and very wet with 23mm of rain falling in the last 12 hours.Winds starting to freshen from the south,with the cloud now breaking and sunny spells developing.

    Yes very dark skies to the north of me,and we've had a few spots of rain.Thought I saw a distant flash of lightning around half an hour ago.The skies to the south look stormy too.

    Just had one single flash of lightning to the east of me here but didn't here the thunder.The rain gauge has recorded 8mm of rain in 20mins so at least the garden has at last had a water!!.

    Thankfully the sun is trying to break through now after a pretty dire morning of heavy rain.Only got 3 very distant flashes and rumbles last night so pretty disappointed to be honest.Doesnt look that promising for this afternoon either.

    Just had a very short sharp burst of rain here,but all thundery activity died away a good half an hour ago!..Just hoping for more later!!

    All seems to gave died here now,no lightning ,thunder for a good 10 minutes.,It's like watching Derby!,after a promising start the last few minutes always let you down!!.

    Some decent booming thunder and sheet lightning here guys although still slightly to the south of me.No rain as yet.The next hour could be very interesting for us all!!.
