Certainly remembered this day for the thunderstorms we had throughout the evening and overnight. They were tremendous. They came on top of what was a lovely scorching day too. Blue skies with 31c achieved here. The best possible way to round off a decent summer! Also to add, this forecast really did underestimate the storm activity further South. You can see for yourself that there was a thread on here discussing this event. Places such as Berkshire, Hampshire all the way up into Lincolnshire and West Norfolk got a pasting.

Whilst we miss out as per usual, northeastern Spain has been issued a level 3 from estofex!! Will be watching this throughout today.

You lucky bugga! What you're saying has certainly been backed by lightning maps. Unreal strike rate going on. What I saw over Norfolk and East Cambridgeshire on the night of the 16th July was truly remarkable though. It must've been at its peak as it passed me to my East as I was seeing nothing but strobe flashing (around 50-60 strikes/min), particularly on the final cell that roared through with the potentially supercellular characteristics such as the reporting of crazy winds and large hail. This year has been by no means a bad one at all. The storms that have happened have been quite spectacular really.

Hmmm. That storm near St Malo area looks like it could hit London in a few hours or so. In my personal forecast, anywhere from say East Devon or Dorset across to East Anglia has a chance tonight, with the risk being increased the further SE you go. Kent would be my optimum location.

Would the Dominican Republic come off badly from Erika? I currently have friends holidaying there :/

An average summer overall despite the unexpected record breaking temperature in July! Two storms which were candidates for storms of the decade occurred within July. So overall not too bad. I've seen much worse.

April 2012 had to be one of the most dire months I've ever had the misery of witnessing!! Only good thing that came of that year was the supercells on the 28th June and perhaps August the 25th.

Quite a shift East on the latest GFS. We don't want anymore of those, one more could see us out of the game entirely.

My word, that squall line has erupted big time entering the Netherlands and Belgium :O

Just need a bit more westward correction on top of what has been happening on this possible plume event. I counted it out a day or so ago, but it has us just about tapping into the juice now. Pinch of salt taken for the moment on this though.

In Peterborough travelling to Spalding earlier, went through an amazing hailstorm with freak strong winds swaying my car! Was unreal! Let's hope that lot comes over us soon

Just witnessed what I think is a microburst!! In shock!

Very low deep booming! Wow! Localised flash flooding too on the A47 I've been told!

Definite thunder in Peterborough despite no sferics shown.

Noticed some high based towers advecting NW earlier. May give something for the northerners soon! Getting very dark from that approaching rain band.

Wish that storm over Montpellier was here!! 340 strikes per minute on that thing down there!!

The fuel is certainly there. Sun is still out here and feeling very humid despite the moderate SE wind. The band is already showing some brighter echoes developing too. 26c here currently.

Wow. Feeling very oppressive here. Quite windy too, but feels nice. It's unbearable indoors!

Some decent lightning on there now. Remember going on that Ferris wheel haha!
