  1. Yes it will. But the moaning about Warwickshire won't stop anytime soon!
  2. How isn't this rain convective?! The conditions are so favourable for thunderstorms, yet all we get is TOSH! Actually it will be convective, just after its passed the Midlands.
  3. Anyone know if Warwickshire has a chance?!?! Sick of waiting for nothin.
  4. Told you it would be. its only gone and moved to Warwickshire.
  5. Shropshire should get something. Chances of Warwickshire getting anything is dropping.
  6. Everything has gone further West than expected, so I really am not too sure. If that band of rain to the South turns convective, then there is a good chance. Unfortunately all the convection is to the East at the moment. According to Netweather, Warwickshire has a decent chance later.
  7. Everything to the west, only if you go North you find storms to the East and West
  8. Nothing in Warwickshire., but storms are doing a very good job at avoiding the Central Midlands
  9. My area is doing incredibly poor. The storms are literally just to the west!
  10. Just been under a very localised heavy shower with absolutely no convection, but it was convective earlier.
  11. West Midlands always does a great job at avoiding the storms, but we are in a good position so hopefully tomorrow will be an exception.
  12. Hopefully mine will be more accurate than those of James Madden! And here is his latest kinda long-range forecast: Unfortunately, that probably won't happen. Odds of around a one in ten chance of this so-called 'heatwave'. (he posted this on Sunday and is therefore referring to this weekend.)
  13. A rather disappointing, gloomy day compared to yesterday. Might as well update on my last long range forecast: Temperature: Generally slightly below average, although attempting to return to average by Thursday. Less chance of Friday or the weekend being above average. Next week looks rather unexceptional with temperatures generally slightly below or even below average. The below average temperatures look set to continue well into September, although there are some signs of a warm spell towards the end of August, not a heatwave by any means. Temperatures barely above the mid-teens by Monday next week. Precipitation: Wet on Wednesday into Thursday, and Friday also looks set to bring light rain. Light showers later on Saturday following a band of more persistent rain by Sunday morning and heavier rain by Monday morning caused by a (pretty unusual) deep low. Tuesday should be rain-free before Wednesday will probably bring another batch of rain. Overall, next week is looking rather wet with a short respite in-between rain bands. The following week may well be drier. A band of heavy rain set to arrive by Monday morning (along with strong winds) caused by a deep low. Wind: Occasionally breezy on Wednesday and Thursday, but calm by the weekend. Sustained wind speed of over 30mph (near gale) with gusts of around 50mph possible by Monday afternoon which may cause some damage (given that trees are still in full leaf). Low pressure over the UK bringing strong winds and wind gusts. Cloud: Gloomy tomorrow and Wednesday with some sunshine on Thursday before the cloud returns on Friday just to persist up until Monday next week. Overall its looking rather gloomy - more so than average.
  14. It's a real shame that the last few days didn't deliver for any of us Midlanders, but at least none of us will feel left out. As for the week ahead, its looking rather unexceptional with temperatures ever so slightly below average (warmer in the sun), and the jet stream pushing in atlantic lows which will probably end up bring patchy rain without thundery activity. As for the long range: Temperature-wise: Below-average to average on most days, possibly warmer by Friday into next weekend, but nothing exceptional expected for the remainder of August. Very slight indications of a hot spell (30C+) towards the end of August, but obviously this is too far off to be even slightly accurate. Precipitation-wise: Considering most of August has been drier than average, yesterdays rainfall only made up for that in most places. Most of us will probably get patchy light showers on some days next week. Next Friday could bring some rain, or no rain. Next weekend will probably be wetter and into the week after, a very small chance of some big thunderstorms if the potential hot spell kicks off towards the end of August, although unlikely. Very average rainfall totals probable by the end of August. As for thunderstorms, forecasting them in the long-range is pretty much entirely guesswork. Even forecasting them a day in advance is hard enough.
  15. To be honest I don't blame the storms for keeping to the continent. The favourable conditions mean they can actually survive in those areas (although they are technically not alive).
  16. That band of rain isn't producing anything stormy - so even if you do get the rain, you probably won't see anything stormy. I'd say yes. Most of us are too far west.
  17. Very bad day - worse than usual. No sunshine whatsoever and drizzle at most. Would have been much better with a storm, but everything storm-wise seems to have died out, so no storms for me!
  18. I'm pretty sure the forecast for today was thunderstorms, and I haven't heard even the slightest rumble.
  19. This has been an incredibly poor year thunderstorm-wise, with the sole exception of that thunderstorm on July 4. Spring delivered nothing, June and July barely delivered and now August is failing to deliver.
  20. Forecast shows nothing to look forwards to. Average all round.
  21. Atrocious weather. Overcast with some drizzle and temperatures only hovering around 15C. The August long-range forecast isn't looking promising either.
  22. Cloudy with drizzle here at the moment - still feels like autumn though. Hopefully autumn will feel like our summer instead, although I don't mind snow - I would actually rather it will be nice enough for a BBQ. The only thing I despise is overcast, mild, rain and drizzle - today being a good example and yesterday being a better one. As for August: Unseasonable maximum temperatures, some of us may even see a rural ground frost. Scotland may even get snow/sleet. Warmer temperatures for a day or two at the start of August.
  23. Just been outside and it feels just like a miserable November's day, or even a mild and wet day winter's day. Temperatures at 12C - but actually feel like 10C. That makes it a whole 10C below average - a mid-summer 'cold snap', since if it were the opposite temperatures would be at 32C.
