  1. Howdy Peeps! Clear and cold here, temp currently 1.1 or 4.1 depending on which weather station I choose to believe! I hit the Co-op in Portree today....lawdy, lawdy, the busiest I've seen it in weeks! Managed to get everything I needed, so wont be venturing anywhere tomorrow. Went to see The Hobbit last night too. V good film!
  2. No snow for me and I won't be crying into my porridge. There may be a dusting elsewhere in the Highlands and good luck to 'em! I'm liking the look of Krimbo day, clear, sunny and cold. Perfect for settling down with a decent glass of malt before dinner!
  3. Afternoon Peeplings! Well, bit of a change in temp today, currently 4c and we have even had a tiny touch of blue sky! Looks to improve for the rest of the week, depending on what forecast you look at. Xmas day looks like it'll be a corker, and possibly a bit stormy come the weekend. Anyone's guess what'll happen after that though, all forecasts I've looked at are definitely not singing from the same hymn sheet!
  4. Well, there's a dusting of snow on the Cuillins just now, although I suspect that today's rain could well wash it away! I believe it will be cold and frosty for the Big Day itself, so you should be able to get here OK. Right now the temp is 13.9, breezy and wet....a normal Skye winter's day really. Be nice to see some clear skies and sunshine though. Happy Yule to everyone! :w00t:
  5. Afternoon Peeps! Calm and cool up here, 5.8c, pressure 1017. We went out to our local coal merchant this morning, 10 bags now in bunker. Now that we are fully set up with coal, wood and heating oil, I fully expect a heat wave to arrive. I haven't yet looked at any charts today....need I bother?
  6. Morning all! A bit damp up here, just had a heavy hail shower. Temp currently 3c and a wee breeze along with it. I'm going to stop looking at the charts for a couple of days as I fear I may end up very disappointed. Be lovely if it did come off though..... :w00t:
  7. Nice charts, but I see that the north west and Skye look like they'll miss out on ant snow event on the bog day. Metcheck says cold maybe sleety, XC says white stuff. I'm not building my hopes up ( as usual! ), but there is a week to go and a lot can happen in that time. So, not polishing up my sledge yet.......
  8. I'm still waiting on my first lying snow here, plenty further up on the hills but hee haw at my level. Those charts look brill but I'm refusing to build up my hopes even for a few flakes. Cold and frosty would be lovely ( and lets face it, more likely here! ), but a wee dusting would be cool. Literally. Meantime it's cloudy and drizzly here, temp 7c. Cooler tomorrow I believe...and hope!
  9. Morning Folks! Dry and calm here, 5c, pressure 1013. Another nice day in prospect, more like this would be just fine!
  10. Morning Peeps! Calm with light cloud here today, temp 3.9. One of my weather stations showed a max temp of 18c on Saturday morning. HAH! I knew it was to get milder, but that was just ridiculous! Time for an overhaul and clean out for that one I think. Since it's dry I may venture outside and clean the windows. last week's blast has left them a tad murky and I won't be able to see the snow falling.....that's if it ever arrives!
  11. Aye OK, so some of you have had snow...( flounces off to have a mega sulk ). We've only had rain and sleet here, my two weather stations are showing temps of 9.5 and 4c respectively. Big difference there, both are showing pressure of 988. Cold, dark and minging. It can only improve....I hope!
  12. No snow today or yesterday, lots of sleet and hail, thunder, lightning and a wee bit breezy too! Power went out this morning at 9am, I think the whole island. College cancelled, so students and teacher repaired to a fellow students house for tea and biccies in front of her Aga. Home for the rest of the day, Baltic with sleet and hail.
  13. Morning campers! Well that was an interesting night, sleet, hail, thunder and lightning, oh, and a wee bit o' wind flung in for good measure! Had a couple of power cuts during the night too, but wind picking up again. Still no mobile or telly signal, so it's the wireless for me today. Stay safe all!
  14. Which one Nick? I know that one has gone offline in Shulista in Skye, but it's actually calming down here a bit. Lost our telly and mobile phone signals, but much worse to come tomorrow!
  15. Ach well, the results of this morning's wee blast....telly and mobile phone signals lost. So it'll be the wireless and laptop for me tonight providing we don't have a power cut! Stay safe everyone, gonna get nasty!
  16. Howdy folks! Heard on the wireless this morning....40 foot waves, storm force winds, 60 - 80mph, power failures and last but not least....Arctic Bomb! All in the same sentence. It's already started up here, very gusty, horizontal rain etc. Am charging up my batteries for the lanterns as we speak. It'll be fun over the weekend if we have power failures and arctic temperatures, although I'm not holding out any hope for the white stuff. looks like it'll bypass Skye which is fine by me. As if we won't have enough to deal with! For those of you who get a decent dump...enjoy!
  17. Mornin' Peeps! OK, who's been up all night with their nose pressed against the window? I do detect a slight ramping in some corners of Auld Scotia. Nothing to get excited about here. Yesterday we had rain and sleet, last night rain, sleet, hailstones and a few wee puffs o' wind along with some rather nice flashes o' lightening and some rumbles of thunder thrown in for good measure. Currently 2c and rather chilly if the Catometer is anything to go by. ( Yep, curled up close beside me like a couple o' limpets! ) Oh wait....there's something flying through the air as I type. Yep, that'll be the kitchen sink...... Another wee rumble o' thunder in the distance.... Oh, and we had a couple of power cuts last night too. A foretaste of things to come later this week perhaps?
  18. Mornin' Guys! Nae snaw at my level, a good dusting up the hills, plenty of sleety rain, temp1c and...wait a minute....I just heard Thunder!! A richt guid mix up for this mornin'! Cats are not for moving off the bed...and nor am I, so I'll stay here fur a wee bit longer if that's OK.
  19. Well, what a change from yesterday! Temp barely scraped above 3c yesterday along with some sleet showers and snow on the hills behind our house. This morning it's 9c with horizontal rain. Sheesh! Midweek looks interesting, eh? I'd best stock up the fridge and start charging some batteries! Those charts are great Catch!
  20. Morning peeps! Just had a hefty shower of something rattling off the roof, sounded a bit sleety, but still too dark and cold to venture out to investigate! I'm still in ma scratcher with electric blanket on and am draped with cats. Temp got down to 2.4 earlier this morning and has now leapt up to a blistering 2.8. I'll be dispensing with the thermals at this rate...not! Hope you all get a touch of some white stuff this weekend although I don't hold out much hope for my neck of the woods. Interesting charts for later next week though....
  21. Morning Peeps! Well, it's a not so cool morning up here at 9c with light cloud. Yesterday was a stoatir o' a day, bright sunshine and wait for it.......white stuff on the mainland hills! Not a lot, but it's a start. I see some models are forecasting white stuff over the weekend, we shall see what we shall see, eh?
  22. Afternoon peeps! Another sunny, crisp Autumn day here. How lucky are we here in Skye? I believe that other parts of Auld Scotia and a wee bit on the damp side. So unusual for us to have the dry weather....not that I'm complaining.
  23. Morning Peeps! Cloudy and cool here, wind from the east so definitely feel the difference today! Currently 11c here, but feels a lot colder. Ch-ch-ch-chilly!
  24. It was a beautiful starry night last night...been a long time since I saw the sky so clear! Lovely fresh morning, currently 9c.
  25. Ah Yes, time for straw clutching and sacrificing your children to the Great God Snow! Really mild up here again, with a wee breeze flung in to keep the cobwebs at bay. 14.5c outside, and the same inside! I look forward to further hysteria from the reds tops over the next few weeks.
