  1. 3c dp0 , with a bus strike today as well maybe london dodged a bullet , a few degrees lower and this morn rush hr would be horrendous
  2. Edgware / Barnet/ St albans that area and North may see heavy snow during rush hour
  3. What a waste looks like turning to snow higher parts NW of London as as it slides SW but looks mostly sleet Heaviest falls looks like being 7 am so if it does turn to snow it's gonna be rush hour chaos
  4. What a twist of fate the 500 wind vectors and 700 wind vectors all move in a SW direction roughly along the m4 corridor , hence the shift as the band moved southwards , 50 miles North / South the winds are in s more northerly direction That's called buggers luck
  5. The line of showers basically stretches along the m4 but stops west of london as it slides SW , shame a 50 mile shift East and we all be having fun
  6. Frustrating looks like west of London ie reading should do well into hampshire
  7. It's a moon dog incase nobody mentioned the halo around the full moon tonight
  8. Clutching straws but all we need ids the high to move 150 miles further north rather than slap on top and the latter half of this week might be of interest Today's 12z were as rubbish as rubbish can be wrt snowy episode for Us in SE , but still another couple of days for the upstream pattern to change a bit
  9. Lol , bbc snow watch was the first forum I stumbled across and discovered I wasn't the only one with a keen interest in winter weather , Mr Murr was a legend on that forum , that's early 2000 when we were finally coming out of the dross of 1990's winter
  10. Slightly off topic I know , but seeing as the last two winters have poor , I can't believe that it's been 6 years to the day that London/ Surrey etc experienced one of the best snow events in my 42 years , below some Photos of that day Let's hope Mr SM is onto something with his latest thoughts on the MoD thread Some more later
  11. Been snowing for about an hour but soon clearing through
  12. Saw on sky news chaos earlier today in places like Sheffield , up to 30 c'mon some areas , shows you just have diversified this small island weather can be sometimes
  13. Looks like on radar the PL has started to move more in a southerly direction , looks like main area now might well be the south west of the country
  14. Current radar prediction for later , not a forecast BTW
  15. Don't forget most bbc are recorded and using older data , nowcasting is where its at , look at radar and general wind direction , net weather extra radar comes into its own in these events
  16. Can't post from mobile but both weatherpro/ home & dry shows a decent band moving SE , although too early to say if they reach here
  17. It's nowcasting that makes this fun , before people knock the BBC /MET these types of situations are impossible to forecast , computer models will give you the general pattern but in unstable situations little micro features will pop up and can give a surprise covering , although they should use s bit more nowcasting or pop in here for latest reports
  18. Can't believe that's nearly 6 years to the day , was clued to this forum most of the night , place was buzzing with various reports around the region from S Murr Boooms to your tiny snow balls . I was luck I max out had the biggest snowfall ever , 10 inches , but if I recall the tables turned a bit in jan 13 when that snow fall occuled in your region dumping a decent amount Sadly feels since 2010 we are slipping back in 90's type winters
  19. The 06z certainly making the call early next week v difficult to call as alluded too , looks like mET thinking is low 30% prob at wider snow South come Tuesday
  20. Some better charts this morning from a coldies point of view , but I'm with WIB , until we see the MO\IF latest thinking then view the NWP outputs with caution Also a concern we have had some solar energy this week ( minor Storm and 2 m flares) which had been typical all winter , the moment we have had promising charts at D5 + the sun throws energy our way
