He’s looking a bit ropey! Might need to prop him up lol
He is looking a bit sad now for sure!
I think maybe by tomorrow he will just be a hat, scarf and carrot on the ground!

Lovely morning here, blue sky, sunshine and 7degC.
Lovely weather for walking the dog.
Almost all the snow has gone except some of the larger drifts still in the shade.
As for our snowman, building him in the shady part of the garden has helped keep him fairly intact, wonder if he can last until Easter?

Looks like the latest GFS has now come up with Beast from the East 3 - The Return!
Or maybe looking at some of those charts tonight - Beast from the East 3 - The Return to Snowmageddon .......

GEFS Ensemble graph for Cardiff shows the trend towards colder weather over Easter very well plus the Snow Row numbers increase significantly before tailing off:

Seems like the models have jumped onto something colder again. Would really be worth it this late in the season?
Reading through the Model thread, seems as though they may be catching on to stuff going on in the upper atmosphere again.
Even though I love snow, I would actually prefer a warm and dry Easter, would help with travelling and gardening, both of which are on the agenda!

Oh God, just go away
What, me or the snowy weather?

Certainly looking cold and unsettled on Good Friday, according to the outer reaches of the GFS of course!:

Agreed anything from the north or northwest tends to give naff all on the south coast wishbone effect and all. I could get something being out on the limb down here but no doubt cold rain if anything.
Nope the holy grail is weather from the east for folks below the M4, lightening has struck twice, we were spoilt rotten. In the future our futile chases for a flurry or 2 from a north or norwester will be fun but ultimately we'll know it won't deliver. Mind you if it gets to 2020 and we are without snow for 2 years I'll be on lamp post watch with the best of you.
All eyes next season on the stratosphere this is the best way for snow me thinks! Or we can just watch out for @karlos1983 easterly watch updates!!!
Looks like the 12Z GFS is really going for it though and also bringing it forward!:

I just can’t see a snowy Easter for me, cold yes, snow not likely. Sounds horrendous
Yes, does sound very much like one of those 'cold rain or sleet' scenarios for us unfortunately

Havent looked since yesterday here, hows the possible easter beast looking?
The latest Meto update says this:
The Easter weekend is still too far away to be confident with any details. The most likely scenario currently is a spell of colder than average weather, with increased likelihood of overnight frosts, and a greater than normal chance of snow, especially in the north.
That looks to me that they are leaning towards the GFS idea of a northerly setting in, how potent it ends up remains to be seen.
Doesn't look as though we will get any warmer Springlike synoptics until mid-April at this rate!

APRIL 2000
You really must stop distracting me as I've got a huge back log in my work I've noted all the posts re: the 4th April 2000 snowfall and the very .......
What an interesting read. Thanks David.
Now stop distracting me with fascinating posts so I can also get some work done ?

With the ECM and GFS sort of similar at 240hrs, it looks possible to me the ECM could also go the same way in bringing in a northerly for Easter weekend.
I'm hoping if there is snow it's after the 30th March as I'm travelling to Derby and back that day!

Oregon Scientific WMR-88 I have had for a few years now and it’s been fantastic. They have upgraded them now as well since I got mine, so I’m considering an upgrade in the next 12 months. About £100-£150 depending where you buy from. You won’t go wrong with mendip weather, the customer service is 2nd to none. ?
Thanks. Looks like the updated model is the WMR-89 (or at least that's the one Mendip sell) so will go for that one. Just under £100 too so a bargain!

Hopefully a satellite got a nice image of the south of the UK covered in snow If someone finds one please do share
Not sure but it might have been too cloudy this morning to get a decent shot and a lot of the snow has melted around here now.
However, pulled this off the NW radar (1st image) with the latest visible satellite image loaded and I think the whiter areas are where there is currently still snow.
The 2nd pic is a zoomed in satellite image from Meteociel. Looks like theres a lot of cloud over SE England so is difficult to make what is snow and what is cloud.
Not very clear I know, hopefully someone can find something better!

A couple of photos from here today. First one of a drift covering the road on yennadon down and the 2nd is the road to princetown coming up from dousland. I spotted 3 cars under snow and many more abandoned. The wind up here was brutal and snow is still being pushed about into drifts!!
4Amazing photos!

Have a look around the net for a local AWS. Plenty of people have them.
Just started looking for a weather station to replace my rather limited temperature/humidity remote sensor.
EllyTech mentioned a local AWS but that seems to be just the generic type of thing to look for as far as I can see with a quick search, anyone have a recommendation for specific models/makes to look at?
TIA

Some excellent analysis and reporting from all over the past few days, great regional thread to be a part of unlike some others it seems!
Glad everyone seems to have got at least some snow, managed around 14cm overall here I think when I measured it on top of the wheelie bin this morning!
Temps here up to +3degC now and snow is rapidly melting off roads and cars etc although not much sunshine yet to melt it on the grass.
Some great snow drifts on my walk with the dog this morning from the extra snow last night and laying stuff blowing around. Will post some pictures once my phone line is fixed. Its been down all weekend so have been burning through my mobile data rather too much!

Looks like our snowfall will soon come to an end here for this cold snap. Will still be time for a crisp snowy walk with the dog in the the morning though!
So for me, I will be watching closely to see if the next opportunity being played with by the models for Easter weekend starts firming up, particularly as I have to drive up country!

If you've ventured into the MAD thread or checked out the latest model runs, you will have picked up by now that most of the main models that go out that far are now hinting at some sort of cold easterly/northerly incursion around Easter.
The GFS has watered it down from last nights bonkers pub run but something wintry still looks very much on the cards.
Easter Sunday charts on the GFS 6Z this morning:
Not what many are hoping to see for Easter (including me!) but not much we can do about it!
