  1. The day started great then it went overcast and now comes the rain I think it's in for the day.
  2. It does look likely we'll see the so called 'French imports' produced by a moisture rich southerly flow off mainland I'm dubious whether we will see full blown thunderstorms.
  3. Good Evening Very pretty as darkness descends my iPhone camera does not quite do it justice.
  4. Experienced a lengthy hail shower c. 30 minutes ago, what a lovely day.
  5. Not nice drenching rain showers aligning into London very soggy out there glad I'm indoors.
  6. Furthermore quite a few have seen heavy wet snowfall this morning my body clock is all over the place BST I disapprove.
  7. Definitely the strongest storm IMBY we've seen for a number of years, some damage to my fence at least it is still upright. It sure did howl between 0600-0800. car alarms going off adds to the trepidation. If the sting jet materialised it would have been a very nasty storm for this inland location. Storm Katie has a beautiful structure bright and sunny now as she trundles across North Sea.
  8. One very big gust just now I'd say roughly 65mph fairly impressive for here.
  9. Currently It's the windiest I've known it in a long time, garden is a mess.
  10. Starting to get some very strong gusts punctuated by a calm here this is going to be a mission to sleep in. Night folks
  11. 1AM gusts: Needles (IOW) 77mph, Bournemouth 67mph, Thorney Island 64mph, Southampton 51mph, Kew Gardens 43mph #StormKatie
  12. This has been posted in SE regional of relevance in here. Storm Katie might have a Katie Hopkins flavour.
  13. I was about to post that Surrey quite concerning if so. She's deeper than modelled and thus that brings a greater chance of more severe weather conditions? The next c.12 hours will be interesting.
  14. Good to see the amber warnings out I did expect this several day ago It does cover a big chunk of Southeast England. I can only assume all those counties in Amber catchment are at risk of seeing 70mph gusts.
  15. Not much to report it does look threatening towards Isle of Dogs.
  16. Meanwhile GFS tones it down the ARPEGE on the other hand a real beastie for densely populated southeastern corner of Britain this is very thrilling to watch it must be said.
  17. This squall was absolutely insane on the night of 07th February most incredible rainfall accompanied by very strong gusts, it was very short lived, but it packed a mighty punch.
  18. You are well situated to see the real strength of Storm Kate Latest GFS, the swathe of damaging winds are largely offshore Hampshire/W Sussex coastline any northern movements and it would be troubling indeed. Gusting roughly 80mph at 0000 just out to sea, on land this can cause a fair bit of damage I expect to see your location to be covered by Amber at least.
  19. It's official Highly unusual to get these depressions at this time of year - this one looks discrete from anything we've seen over the winter. I would not like to be aboard a ferry to Calais. Southern coastal areas may go Amber just throwing it out there, it is too soon for decisive warnings clearly.
  20. What a beautiful day you cannot beat days like this not cold nor warm nice and fresh.
  21. The bank holiday storm could be quite nasty UKMO T+96 a tight gradient in the isobars for South East England, severe gales based on this any upgrades on the wind speeds it would be concerning. watch this space
