  1. How considerate, albeit 2 months late - it irks me. Yesterday was a lovely day complete inverse to today cool, cloudy ect.
  2. 7.4C please I see April to be a chilly one characterised by northern blocking and stubborn north/easterlies.
  3. Not only does it turn unsettled but there is a high probability of gales/severe gales affecting our region a bank holiday special on GFS 06z ;-)
  4. Indeed Some folk assume high pressure equates to sunny, warm days, funny that. The Beeb were going for a high of 14C barely got much above double figures today & Lassie winter is behind us, onwards to Spring - it seems to be delayed this year.
  5. I commend BB 62-63 however I think your daily quite elaborate, eloquent put assessment(s) are going in vain - it is growing by the day too late for any meaningful 'stab', I feel you should take note of this, something beyond my knowledge has blighted us all winter. I cannot recall a season so characterised with let downs. I find this weather quite frankly boring this site is quite mute outside the ruddy EU ref thread the synopsis being an earbashing T+216 would blow away the cobwebs The 'reign' of High pressure trended by all the models to be bowled away out the way remaining cool not cold though and turning unsettled, good for the ducks - our pal Sidney will need to shelter his nuts...it must be said it has been pretty dry over the last few months IMBY, emerging signs this could break down? Easter Sunday
  6. A lot colder than forecasted all due to stratus cloud persisting all day NASA imagery below captures the North Sea crud quite well. Today's high 8C quite chilly, but bearable.
  7. Wonderful Spring day reinvigorating with E/NE breeze very pleasant in the sunshine, no air pollution hoorah... ECM at day 10 shows a bracing northerly I'll take it I'm sure there would be blue skies, just that bit colder like today with convection. I'm not fussed with what the weather does there's more troubling matters to worry about, plenty of time for warmth what's the rush?
  8. Interesting to see how Scotland lags behind... Summer is coming folks!
  9. Welcome to the forum Snow H I'm not sure about anyone else but I find this weather incredibly boring + the poor air quality associated with persistent HP traps all the bad things bad for your health. Despite the fog lifting quite dense approx 0700 there remained a slight haze all day.
  10. A foggy start to Friday for many of us, it may be dense in places, freezing fog also possible out in the country.
  11. It did not even reach 9C today, maxima 8C, overcast quite a cold wind coming from NE.
  12. You wonder whether there is much point commenting run to run such is the complexities of a major SSW the atmosphere is behaving in a way which I think will be v hard for UK to be spared some wintry promise, undoubtedly northern Britain, particularly Scotland do not be deceived that winter is over. It might come back and bite you! seismic reshuffle going on...
  13. No the lakes are far too cold for hurricane development which requires warm ocean waters of at least 78*F & yes the lakes are big relative speaking, but really a speck!
  14. A change in the orientation of the high centred over Scandinavia leading to chilly easterlies through this weekend Into early part of next week. I do know the Beeb were going for temps in the mid teens at one point, funny how things change, feeling chillier in our SE corner more the nuisance type, slightly below average temps for the time of year, looking largely overcast so air frosts will be limited some ground frosts. Towards the latter part of the next week GFS has a southerly plume with 850hPa temps of 10C narrowly missing us, with the storm thread awakening. I suspect so interest there if you're a storm fan, quite early in the year I must say. High teens by next weekend would be nice, bliss in the sunshine.
  15. The so called warm up can not even swoop to the same level of December. A lot of rain on the way see below, there could be some brief wet snowfall for the chilterns.
  16. I was occupied this morning thus missing out on the flakes, bah humbug oh well better luck next year... Quite a chilly start to March, winter still hanging on for the time being.
  17. Beast from the east awaketh dreamy stuff perhaps the more extreme option.
  18. Light snow flurries faith restored in the snow god high water content mind as one would expect deep in London metropolis.
  19. Hmm those showers seems to have disintegrated on the approach to London be back in 30...not quite sure why I do this to myself.
  20. Incredibly stunning natural phenomena !
  21. That is odd quite a good batch of moderate intensity showers feeding in. I stumbled across this on my Twitter and isn't it beautiful
  22. Keep an eye out for Northern Lights reports getting as far south as the Midlands. ARPEGE is showing slight accumulations for parts of South East England. The Met Office app has these showers getting into Greater London between 0200 - 0400 might set my alarm.
  23. Out in beyond but you can draw similarities to how the great winter of 1947 evolved.
