  1. Well 2010 proved otherwise it is rare but not impossible at all, I prefer early cold considering the shorter daylight hours by February, Spring is on the back of your mind. Does Wednesday not interest you? I would not say it would be exclusive for northern hills either you have some elevation too...
  2. I would not say it is GAMEOVER for snow even this far south. ENS depict quite chilly air for early March not exceptionally so, but it does not rule it out predominately wet interspersed by something wintry at times? Clearly the timing is going to be critical and if it does settle it wouldn't stick around for long... This winter has been full of let downs time for March to buck this trend
  3. Typically today would have been much colder... Here's why for the overall lack of potency. I have not been so keen to believe in this global warming malarkey but it appears something is changing in global weather patterns.
  4. A rather icy ENE wind blowing through here still a reasonable 6C in mid winter with a modest cold pool on the mainland - I'm sure the temps wouldn't have been far from freezing.
  5. Some snow flurries for tommorow - feeling bitterly cold on a nagging easterly wind.
  6. GFS 18z is showing transitory frontal snow for Monday before milder air pounces in.
  7. It is a snow fest alright GFS overdoing it no doubt with snow in Camborne The s thing is not dead in the water for lowland southern Britain in fact we could be entering the most interesting spell of weather, implying wintry hazards coupled with drenching rain ect in meteorological Spring. Does look unsettled!
  8. Most likely... Showers advancing northwards into evening largely west of London according to ECM.
  9. I suspect it is not last chance saloon a brief milder blip and down we go..
  10. It did snow this morning going by the radar unfortunately I missed it...
  11. I woke up absoloutely parched I thought why not check the radar. No surprise why the gritters are out as it is bone dry. A fair few of us waking up to a dusting/light covering if you're early enough.
  12. Expertly said by Malcolm Well the showers feeding into the wash were not caught by high res a dusting or so. Brrr it's blooming cold out there ppn please?
  13. Well, that is entirely dependant on the late Feb sun, under cloud cover temps will struggle. In mid winter days would have been much colder say no higher than 2C for most this weekend. Unfortunate. Some pics from this morning Edit: @Surrey you have to be optimistic or you would go mad Keep your hair on..well I just illustrated where the risk comes from clearly the threat would come later in the day, I trust the MetO over you!
  14. I see this disturbance see bulge in isobars circled - this is what I believe the MetO are talking about. Bring on the snow
  15. Looks good on paper I'm bemused by ppn charts by the lack of it. I'm not expecting a stampede of showers but you'd be very unfortunate to not see anything on Saturday a brisk easterly with a slight ENE element expect showers to go well inland when they form some being fairly hefty too. The waters off Kent stretching to Suffolk are several degrees above average - which is good to create that instability a plus of this dreadful winter.
  16. Nein.. You stumble across some funny things on the web. A hard frost incoming.
  17. JMA is good out to 144 EDIT: Ignore 12z from yesterday UKMO lacklustre
  18. Scattered cumulus cloud I love days like this threatening clouds juxtaposing with clear skies.
  19. High res NMM certainly never caught on it I'm always sceptical most showers are unpredictable!
  20. A peppering of showers could turn wintry later on unusual from a northerly flow you can thank the strengthening sun for the convection.
  21. I do not think it is like the earth orbiting the sun lol after some investigating maybe it has something to do with a segment/cut off part of jet stream over British Isles I have never seen something like this before...instead of sinking into France as what would usually happen the low is taken on a conveyor belt, in essence up western half of the country.
  22. How unusual the low is ejected north what's the mechanism behind this?
