cold spell ends in the SE Friday according to met office afternoon update
let's hope everyone sees some decent snowfall this week and the low pressure coming up Thursday stalls and we end up with a mega blizzard to finish of a remarkable end to an average winter .fingers crossed
FAKE NEWS
NO it doesn't !
METO have just issued a new Weather warning for SNOW on Friday for the SE advising of potential deep snow with only a chance of it turning to rain..

Looks like cold spell end here here Friday looking at met office update
up to 7c by Sunday
hmm though it’s going to be memorable for the low temps wonder why the Siberian High wasn’t able to stop the low pressure moving N enough to push away the cold air so quick
normally these low pressure system fail to get far enough N and sink s again, like mid March when channel island got hit in 2013 and the blocking high regained control
not this time then,by the looks of things
Disappointing end to a pretty pathetic winter here in the end ,despite the hype
See you guys next winter I guess chasing nothing again probably
That will be based on yesterdays data......and was correct then. Any changes on tonights 12z runs will not materialise until tomorrow.

Strange winter......-NAO for the first and last days of the season only.

We almost get 499 dam thickness on the Gfs 6z on wednesday and some fabulous sub zero maxima of minus 3 or 4 c with heavy drifting snow and severe wind chill making it feel like minus 10 to minus 15c in the gale force easterly winds!..can't believe it's so quiet in here!
Maybe in Yorkshire Frosty, but down here in the SE we have barely seen a covering this winter, let alone drifts.
we ve been let down too many times ...still hoping though

Had 4 or 5 short snow squalls here today. Mostly all melted now in the sun, still some lying on frozen ground in the shade. Perspective needed.....nice to see but not a beast. Not even a snowball let alone a snowman.
Cmon UK, you can do better than this !!

Just looked at 4 different radars for the south east and they are all different. Netweather shows almost total light snow.....we have blue skies and sunshine overhead.
Accuweather shows a couple of rain Showers ( yes Rain )
weather Radar looks about right, but shows rain shower over St Albans atm.
Rain today ......looks a mess and crashes when you zoom in.
Who to believe?
Met office seem to have been the most accurate to date. If only their 3-5 day forecast matched their now casting.

That long range met outlook is unbelievable isn’t it. What a huge change for the worse. Oh well, bring on Mon-Fri. Then perhaps Spring slowly ushering in. If we all get a good dump, then that will make it easier to take. Huge turnaround from Exeter on the extended though ?
Watch the TV forecasts change also in relation to the weekend. They are ALWAYS 12-24 hours behind with the public TV forecasts. I'm sure the presenters must feel the frustration we feel also at times, especially those that pursue meteorology as a hobby too.

So my phone is now saying Snow on a Tuesday and Thursday, don’t think it will amount to much considering I am bang on the coast.
then it’s forecasting freezing rain on Friday.
but what exactly is freezing rain (frozen rain obviously ;)) but is this not what hail is?
Rain that falls on frozen ground creating ICE. Usually only temporary during a general thaw

Shower activity forming now North of Groningen ( Nederlands ).

There's enough time for it to be wrong, but the GFS is bringing that milder air in faster and fast with each run, although I have also noticed that at the same time it's making less and less progress East, if the trend continues it might not even make it to the UK and stall to the South West of the UK.
The UKMO + 144 overnight chart is very similar to the ECM though, If the GFS doesn't back down over the next few runs I'd say were looking at a 3 or 4 day at best cold spell with snow opportunity's but by next weekend it will probably be feeling more spring like, I'll be reading the afternoon METO text update with a lot of interestyh I agree......I cant believe how all of the HP to our North and East just evaporates. With all the major organisations stating NW Europe going into the freezer for an indefinite period how can it all dissolve in 4 days ?

So this is now fast turning into a severe 3 day cold spell...whoopy bleedin do. !!
Not even any front edge snow now for this pesky low and for us in the south its game over by Thursday morning.
Ohh well guess we should just enjoy it whilst it lasts
GFS ....please be wrong.......
Absolute joke if GFS verifies..........Most of England out of the game by Friday.

It certainly blows up the feature as it moves towards the south coast unlike ECM and the mean runs (both by GFS and ECM) to be some what further south east than the op.
yes its been moving it northwards for several runs now..........was a 5% chance on yesterdays GFS ensemble suite.... 15-20% on tonights 12z GFS.
