  1. 12z GFS has a more prolonged spell of snow, more especially for Scotland. The front takes quite a while to make any progress, giving a few hours of heavy snow if you're in the right place (me hopefully :D).

Temps barely rise at all from Northern England northwards, dewpoints also remain around freezing or just below for a good while as well.

Some folk might get a surprise on Monday morning, because with evaporative cooling taken into consideration the freezing level might not be that far from sea level (for a while at least).

  2. Ended up with 15 INCHES! Most I've ever seen at once, and it's still lying now in abundance on the pavements especially. Constant sea effect streamers! It really was an amazing spell of weather, but the fact we ran out of bread and milk wasn't nice!

I'll remember that spell for the rest of my life, the best one in terms of snowfall to date.

  3. Looking great for my area (West-Central Scotland) for snow in the next 72-96 hours! Models are giving some great snow potential from that midweek storm (Fionn soon maybe?), along with all those bloody showers from tomorrow evening onwards!

Shame that this week's potential is being dampened by the IMBYness in here, just because it's not what a lot of us want. I was bloody fuming when those sliders were dumping FEET of snow in the Midlands, now it's our turn! :D

Aye it's been a while since a trampoline has been airborne here :D

Quite looking forward to Dylan, I'm on the northern flick of the Amber through the Lowlands so here's hoping he delivers!

I'm also wondering if the rain moving into the west and heading east later tomorrow might have snow along the front edge if it stays this cold. If it does it would be another chance for those in South Wales & southern England who missed the snow to get at least some temporary accumulations before turning back to rain. Fingers crossed.

I feel like the models are underestimating the snow on the leading edge of the front, because there's a lot of surface cold around currently. For instance, high of -4C here yesterday, low of -8C last night, and it expect it to be about the same tonight and tomorrow too before the front moves in.

Maybe some sort of chance for us up North who have missed it all recently, we'll see...

  6. Must be the only member in the NW of the UK that hasn't had a DROP of snow in this cold spell. Missed out on all those showers Thursday and Friday, and obviously the slider today!! Bloody raging doesn't cut it!

First ice day of the season today however, with a max of -4°C.

Currently -7°C now and a little misty.
