  1. Well im back guys after my little sleep! And finally it is snizzling the smallest of snizzles and there is a very slight dusting! The band looks to have stalled more or less now, it's still not showing the right stuff because I should have had snow 2 hours ago, but even so, I shall take this
  2. Well im off to bed till about 6:15, radar showing snow over us for the past 45 minutes yet its still dry as a bone, this is rather worrying. Speak later guys.
  3. 4am radar update, band starting to stall with the heavy precip still 50 miles south of me... *Hits the panic button*
  4. LOL I wanna know who has the job everynight to sit there watching that camera and pointing it around in different places Then again its probably just an automatic cycle its on.
  5. Coming down a treat there in London! Thanks for the answers to the virga questions guys Much appreciated as always.
  6. Finally eh Steve! Just out of curiousity to your answer about 15 minutes ago... What is virga?
  7. I know! I might try and get a bit of sleep if its not snowing by 4:30am and wake up at 6ish but knowing my luck as soon as I go bed it will start snowing and I will wake up and everywhere will be white or my alarm wont go off and I will sleep in to about midday and then wake up and the snow has gone
  8. Phew! *wipes sweat off forehead* this is really nerve wracking That PPN about 50 miles south of me looks fantastic, but I have to wonder if it will arrive in my location still in that sort of shape or a lighter patchier shape that will leave me with about 1cm of snow max and then melt during the day I'm starving, im shattered and im nervous as heck, but I just cant sleep cos I'm too excited/nervous about this situation! The things I do to see some snow, dear oh dear
  9. Classic example of the ana-prop I was talking about. I'm sure the band is lighter and further south than the radars are ramping up, according to the latest radar its snowing lightly over me but its dry as bone.
  10. If you are right PP then I might just have to ask that woman you love to meet you, hows that sound for a reward?
  11. Yeh same here mate, in fact all night since about 10pm the street has been white with frost, popping my head out the window just now and its clouded over and you can feel its not as cold, but thats what usually happens before snow arrives, it goes up a degree or 2 depending on how low the temp is. Everything still white though and if the snow hits in an hour or 2 I dont doubt that it will settle a treat, I just worry if it will ever reach here at this rate though! That is a great last 5 days in minimum temps you have had though, whoever said this winter was terrible eh! Cant compain with night time minimas of that! I just cant understand things at the minute with what the midnight BBC forecast and the GFS are predicting... Apperantly the latest BBC forecast was that the snow would reach south midlands and then die out. But the 18z GFS showed it easily reaching my area and then hovering around from a line of the south midlands up to south yorkshire most of the day. That's why I'm nervous, I dont know which forecast will be correct! If the BBC's is then i'm done for.
  12. 3am radar looks decent still from a personal point of view, I think there is some serious ana-prop going on tonight with all the radars, the meteo one keeps going haywire, the met-office one shows moderate-heavy snow over worcester but people are reporting lightish snow, and earlier on this evening around 10pm I had a big blob of heavy PPN over my area and it was clear sky, I feel that the band is actually further south and lighter than its showing up as.
  13. I wouldnt worry about the temp mate, -1.6 is fine and it was meant to rise to about -1 by 6am for our area, but not get above 1-2c all day so its perfect temperatures for snow really. I'm more worried about the PPN stalling south of me, that would be devastating, but if it does I wont throw a paddy and go mad like some of the guys on here were earlier. I will be truly gutted but there is nothing I can do about it if that happens. If the band reaches me though I shall be a very happy bunny.
  14. If its snowing in Reading now then the PPN band must be steadily moving north east now. Which is good news! I'm still very nervous though, pleaaseeeee reach me!
  15. This is agonising, I'm not expecting any PPN to reach me till around 6am, IF it reaches this far. It's just that it seems to be edging closer and closer...But yet so far because if this stall in the next 3 hours, it could make or break this event for me. If it stalls so it's over me for much of the day then it could be the best snow I have saw for 6 years, and if it goes wrong it could be the biggest let down I have ever saw in my life (what with all the talk of my area getting anything from 5-15cm)
  16. Ok deep breath! 2:30 radar still looking alright for me, I wont get excited until it starts snowing though, my blood pressure must be through the roof!
  17. I darent look at the next radar run!!! *poos his pants*
  18. Thanks Steve, much appreciated  I hate it when its this close to happening but you just don't know if its going to stall about 10 miles south of me, its times like this when you need to sleep but you just cant until you see that it has finally reached you! Very nerve wracking
  19. Steve I tried but I just cant get to sleep mate! I cant stop thinking about if I will get snow or not, had to come on and check the latest radar and it looks decent. With you being somewhat much more knowledgable than me, do you think the snow band will now not reach anywhere north of the south midlands? I still think it will reach far enough as Leicester where I am, what are your views on this?
  20. Right well im going bed for a bit and coming back about 4am to check whats happening, cya.
  21. People are forgetting that it's not forecast to reach the midlands till around 6-7am anyway, so whats the panic if the band hasn't reached there by 1am?
  22. Can someone tell me how this PPN is dying out and not moving north east? Thats total rubbish in my opnion. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/index.html Either I need glasses or I'm right.
  23. Thanks mate I can fully understand peoples frustrations and downhearted ness when things look to be going wrong, because I have been the same in the past... But what I cant understand is when the GFS have predicted the PPN to be where it is now and then move north eastwards quicker towards the midlands after midnight - 6am then why are people calling it game over already? The latest radar image looks brilliant now and it has defanitly pepped up in half an hour. One slight change in forecast by Rob Mcelwee and all of a sudden people are on the verge of phoning the samaritans, I think some people need to be patient and wait until tomorrow night to say whether it was a let-down or not. Which in my opinion it wont be a let-down.
  24. Oh look.... Latest radar image and the precip has pepped up quite considerably in half an hour and now starting to move north east wards quicker. Well well who's talking of it dying out now then?
