  1. Yeh there seems to be plenty of showers off that North-East coast looking to come inland You planning on staying up to see the 00z then? I am hoping too stay up for it Thats great!! I think its brilliant to see people be able to play musical instruments, music is a great gift and its always nice to know when people are playing different instruments Drums, guitar and piano for your musical family is a great combination
  2. Tell ya what, temps are really low tonight!! -8 recorded in Shap in the north-west, -7 at Tulloch Bridge in Scotland and even a -7 at Birmingham Airport, just 35 miles west of me! Temp is around -4 where I am now but just 12 miles up the road in Coalville they are recording -5, so I wouldnt be surprised if some areas see as low as -9 by 6am, certainly Shap could see -9 and I wouldn't be surprised if Birmingham Airport dropped another degree by 6am either!
  3. I think you are in a good place to see snow on Saturday Brian Thursday may be a bit hit and miss at the moment but Saturday looks promising for you thats for sure! Something else aswell... I wonder if you have looked at the latest radar image? Those snow showers look to be heading in a line inland and heading for your area? I may be wrong but I wouldnt bet against you seeing something tonight Thanks Yeh Muse are brilliant!
  4. Possibly Brian I like the look of this beauty of a forecast for the East Midlands on Thursday Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Unsettled and generally cold. Sleet, snow and strong winds, clearing later Friday, giving significant accumulations in places. Wet and windy on Saturday, preceded by hill snow for a time. Did I see the word significant??
  5. I dont like to blow my own trumpet, but what did I just say about 5 minutes ago? FINALLY you have snow! See, I told you the PMA would work, Positive Mental Attitude guys, its what its all about to get snow to come to you
  6. Yeh its not surprising with the snow showers likely to be up there through the night! I will be expecting the BBC and Met Office to be showing a severe weather warning this time tomorrow night regarding many parts of England for snow That probably just jinxed it now though, if it goes belly up at the last minute then its me you can blame Persian, I expect you to get pasted soon mate, those showers are heading right for you, keep us updated wont ya I predict in less than 10 mins you will be telling us you have snow.
  7. No problem Roberto Our areas look promising for those two days, but I dont want to jinx it! Yaaayyy I love hot chocolate and cookies Good job you stocked up, theres loads on here tonight! Tom F I think it looks promising for our areas as I just said to Rob Stay tuned to the forecasts on t.v mate, they will give you the best indication for what to expect on Thursday. Then maybe Saturday but at the moment Saturday looks a bit of a 50-50 situation whereas Thursday is getting closer and still looking decent for us to see snow
  8. Anyone think the BBC have overcooked temps for saturday? My take on the latest model run charts is that my area will have a max of 2c on saturday with the risk of sleet/snow, yet the bbc are predicting this...
  9. Persian and Paul Tall I think the reason snow always evades you and splits in two when it comes over you is because you are so negative and it doesen't like you and it evades you Try for tonight and be positive and dont doubt it... and see if it actually comes to you and if it does then it shows you where you have been going wrong all this time remember guys... PMA Positive Mental Attitude
  10. I think you may be being a bit too negative here, the models I have seen point to snow for us midlanders on Thursday with maybe more on Saturday, very exciting times in my book. Also the BBC are talking about the possibility of several cm's and a few inches for the Midlands for Thursday aswell, so i'm not sure why you are calling it the wrong side of marginal.
  11. Robert Well interestingly the last few runs the models have hinted at another band of precipitation heading over the UK like the one forecast for Thursday is... and while it does head across the UK on saturday it looks like we could have temps of 1-2c in some areas and there is a possibility of another chance of snow. But we wont know for sure till about Thursday.
  12. Flippin eck I didnt think suffolk would have seen that today! That is a bit unexpected surely There is a good 2 inches there.
  13. Snowcover!!?? you mean you have seen snow already? lucky you!!
  14. Tell ya what the frost here is unbelievable already tonight, just had football training outside on a pitch which has artificial grass and it was -2.5c and the pitch was just covered white by frost and was frozen solid, and that was at 8-9pm, I can see -5 being reached here tonight, lowest of the winter so far I think.
  15. You posted that just to get one over on us midlanders and say that your area will see snow on thursday and we will see sleet according to the GFS hehe, I wouldn't like to say what I think will happen yet because it's still a few days off and lots can change still so we will say whats happening by midday Thursday
  16. Excellent picture Stephen Glad you have got some snow finally mate! I think that little bit of heavy PPN will fizzle out before it reaches Midlands areas later on but I'm happy that you have got some snow, and it looks like a nice little covering too
  17. I think that will be more or less the way it will pan out I hope that little band of heavy ppn comes across leicestershire in the morning Doubt it tough! Really cold out there now! Around -3 and everywhere is white from frost, lovely site
  18. I thought the same thing mackerel, Darren Bett even said some places could see a 'covering' from those showers, im not sure about a covering! Maybe a slight caster sugar dusting but i'm not sure about a covering. I can't see either where the showers would come from, the showers near the cheshire gap as moving agonisingly slow aswell!
  19. As soon as I saw it was Darren Bett I laughed because we all know of his mild bias. I thought oh no! He is going to downgrade it or something But then when he started talking of 'significant snow' I started to get a bit happier! Even they arent too sure on the position of the PPN and the whole sitation yet though, you could tell that by the way they only showed the snow over the middle part of the country from a zoomed out way and then quickly switched to another page where he ended his forecast, so I think by this time tomorrow and Wednesday morning we will know better what is likely to happen for Thursday
  20. It is! Me you and mackerel sky will be happy with that forecast Really hope what is forecast at the minute will happen for Thursday! If it does it could have real potential.
  21. Just about to watch it now  Its darren bett! LOL
  22. Oh yes it is I admit I am secretly a bit excited with the 12z but I wont think its a dead cert yet because it was only 6 hours ago that i was getting upset about the 06z run saying it was almost game over! So if the 18z keeps the same trend as the 12z I will get slightly more excited, but i wouldnt be surprised if it changed the position of the low, PPN and upper air temps to be honest. Like you say, it would be typical for it to miss us after we get excited about it! LOL! Well I tell ya what, I haven't seen Everton Fox forecast snowy weather before on his monthly outlook so I think I might have to savour this day Just our luck if he forecast snow and it ended up not happening
  23. I'm glad theres not much ramping yet mate, I am getting slightly excited at this 12z chart because with me living in the east midlands this could get very interesting. But the reason i;m glad theres not much ramping yet is because the way the charts keep changing with every run, even so close to the event it is time for us to be cautious until around Wednesday... Then we can start to either ramp or be annoyed. The 06z for example showed quite a different track of the PPN and showed milder air moving in faster than the 12z so who knows...maybe the 18z will go back to what the 06z run shows, hope not though!
  24. Thats more like it from the 12z! the 06z wasnt a good run but this 12z is a maginificent run for southern areas and the midlands northwards on thursday, if it stays this way it could get very interesting indeed!
