Hmmmm, now it's turned back to rain with some sleet mixed in! *shakes fist at snow Gods*

Guess what boys and girls... IT'S SNOWINGGGG Had nothing but cold, heavy rain since about 9pm but after a brief drier patch in the radar, a heavy line of PPN has just hit us and it's snowing heavily! I'm guessing the intensity of this band has brought the temps down, just enough to bring some fat flakes

Wow! Just had a shower that bordering on a blizzard This has been a great day for snow showers!

The dew point is -7 here! Not marginal in the slightest -7 dew in the middle of Winter is rare, but for April... Madness!

Just had a really heavy snow shower that lasted about 15 mins! Even started to settle a bit on the grass and cars

More snow showers here today! Just shows what can happen in April when you get -8 to -10 850's Shame there isn't any organised band, as a few hours of it would be nice to see! At least it isn't marginal either.

Wowzers! We just had a snow shower here in Northampton, in April! 5 days after we hit 22c, no less That's why I love the Weather in this country.

Been under those showers for several minutes and seen zero snowflakes. Thrilling stuff.
In fact, I can actually see a hole opening in the cloud over me.
I give up with today.
Did you not hear? The Stoke snow shield is now back and running at 100% power. It was in for repairs for a few weeks previous, but i'm afraid they found the part needed, and it's been fixed

I agree with you 100% Andy, thats why I said “I had to laugh”...and I’m still laughing
Would be great if it came off, just this once Looks like the showers are starting to fizzle away now I think this is nearing the end of snow potential now for this cold spell. All in all, it has been decent for a large part of the Midlands. An overnight sugar dusting here on Sunday and Monday night was the best we had. Did also catch a shower this morning which gave is another dusting, shame it melted by noon though

Any of you guys recommend a good radar, ones that show what to expect, not one that only covers the previous 3 hours lol

We had around 1cm overnight from a few showers. Its all gone now Anyone else surprised at how fast the snow has melted? We had snow on the ground yesterday morning that melted by the afternoon, as well. It's even melted in the shade. I wasn't expecting snow to melt in the shade in these conditions. It hasn't got above 0c since Sunday

The streamer has now taken a more East to West course and is heading straight through Leicester, onto Birmingham will be some happy brummies on here tomorrow morning. Just shows you how far streamers can get in this set up though. They can reach Wales.

And astonishingly its still snowing here in coventry hasn't stopped since 9am!!
Will most likely continue on and off until tomorrow evening. Incredible really.

Looking at the models for tomorrow. The streamer for Leicester, Rugby, Cov and surrounding areas is STILL going by tomorrow afternoon going to be some mad totals locally. 20cm in some spots, like where @sheikhy lives.

Finally my first proper snow shower in like 6 hours
@sheikhy is gonna be buried by the morning. Constant streamer coming off The Wash into South Leicester. No sign of it stopping insane luck.

Fingers crossed! Been a frustrating day of radar watching! Blame me I covertly bought the kids a new sledge at the end of last week. (Gotta be up there with telling friends and family there’s a cold spell on the way as a sure fire way to scupper snow) have had to keep it hidden!
So you are the reason why we've been 20 miles South of a streamer all day and 10 miles North of that band of snow that hit Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes earlier!!

This part of Northants has a mini stream of snow showers lining up
What part are you in? I'm in Upton, just to the West of the city. Looks like there MAY be some kind of organised band of light PPN heading this way. Not getting my hopes up though

It’s funny I have lived most my life out towards the east/west haddon area so only 5/6 miles from Northampton and have done pretty well in all the big events over the last 12 years 2009 feb+Dec, 2010 nov/dec 2013 jan/march and the 2018 beast. 91 February was good from memory and my parents found some old vhs footage of it last Christmas. Think I have some very hazy memories of jan 87 but was only 4 and half,so not sure how good it was round here. But like you said during the big events of the last 12 years once you got towards town It was noticeable how much less snow there was. My grandmother used to say Northampton was in a dip and was why the Germans never really bombed it in the war despite making most of the army’s shoes! Maybe the dip is the cause of the snow shield today!
Interesting you should say that! My manager at work earlier told me that Northampton is in a dip, that's why Cov and Milton Keynes had decent snow earlier and we had a sugar dusting Could be some truth in it then! It's snowing lightly out there now. Starting to dust a few cars again, but nothing to write home about. PLEASE snow gods, let us be under a streamer tonight. I beg you

Yes we did, 2010. I was heavily pregnant at the time and got quite nervous. It was mega snow!
Insane levels of snow. I remember seeing the pictures and I couldn't believe it. Drifts of 3-4 foot in places!

Model Output Discussion - A cold start to Spring?
in Forecast Model Discussion

Morning everyone! Hoping to see some snow for my location, this week. The Ensembles resemble a toddlers drawing at the moment But they look to be in agreement that the cold will at least be here in a few days time! I hope the majority of us snow lovers on here do get to see some from this. It's been a poor Winter in terms of snow for myself, and i'm sure a lot of other people, too.
