quite a lot of sleet appearing in kent on the latest NW radar -
probably those dewpoints pushing in from the low countries - don't think evap cooling could push the air temps down that much.

Transition now in swing.. precipitation turning wintry into EA... and the euro vents.. showing the convergence... in she comes .. however we are hours away from any notability..especially regionwide....it’s all beginning to knock on the door... and if anyone mentions that soul destroying advert about knocking on the door and ringing the bell ?... I’ll make a voodoo doll of you and have sadistic fun with it
Take it you are not a fan of the People's postcode lottery then.
The irony is - this event could be a postcode lottery

Radar update
A pixel of sleet has turned up just north of Harlow
Most southerly location for wintryness to date
Think this is probably a rogue reading - nothing else until you go about 30 miles north - but sleety mix now become much more widespread across Cambridgeshire

Temp 4.4 and dp 3.7 here in Ramsey, seems to be a bit of sleet about 40 miles north of us at the minute.
I'm expecting a wintry mix in about 2 Hours at this rate, temp has started dropping quickly.. about 2 degrees in hour and half.
Hope everyone has had a kip today to keep me company into the small hours
Radar has sleet over Ramsey now - what you got?

The snow keeps getting pushed back, hour by hour, and decreasing in intensity.
There does seem to be a downgrade on (on the models) but it will come down to watching the radar.
There is quite a lot of micro-level disagreement in the models and weather media outlets - very much a nowcast - radar and stick your head out of the window job tonight

followed the site for ages but just joined, thought it about time i stopped being a lurker, looks like i will be in the thick of things as i seem to be positioned slap bang where the action is going to happen. Ive always been a weather freak love storms snow gales etc my family think its hilarious, [have great grand kids so im no spring chicken] possibly the oldest snow lover on the site. getting very gusty winds at the moment had rain but no snow yet, passing the time by beating up angry birds and informing family to get stocked up with essentials candles torches batteries food camping cooker in case of power cuts as you can tell have been here and worn the tee shirt many times. sorry if this is a long first post hope its in the right place as i will be able to send more info about my area as this weather progresses, cheers to everyone have lots of homemade moonshine liquers if heating goes down in power cut
Welcome - keep us informed - you could be in the game in the 2-3 hours, I reckon

Best of luck Stu, your in a good place to end up with 10-20cms from this, could be more if the winds stay more NE for longer.
Make sure you get some good photos for us lot in the barren green lands further west!
Darren - if Tunbridge Wells gets anywhere near that, I would be delighted. Its had an absolute shocker this year with a grand total of around 5 minutes snow cover.
This despite elevation of around 140m asl.
I think the problem is that the elevation is slightly higher more or to the east, south and west, which doesn't assist.
if the ppn is blowing in from the north east, that might assist, but Sevenoaks tends to do better 10 miles down the road.

Wind is starting to acquire a bit of a cold bite and sky is taking on a bit of an orange tint, even though it is no where near cold enough for snow.
People with weather stations, please keep the observations coming - especially those in the north of the region as transition is not that far away now!

I have that dilema sometimes as well being right on the SW edge of the region.
But I'm staying here for two main reasons:
1: I'm downstream on any Thames streamer that does kick off, so reports upstream might be useful.
2: History and good knowledge of what can happen in S.Essex on a good easterly flow!
With that being said I can understand those especially NW of London having a totally different looking expectations and they don't really belong to the CS/SW thread as that usually is dominanted by those from the likes of Somerset, etc, which again is not really reflective of their weather either.
Stay here - all the cool, funny people are in this room -

I was tempted to do the same tonight, what a knock from Root.. It's going to be fascinating seeing how we bowl against them later, amazing that it will all be unfolding on Channel 4 whilst the snow starts to settle. That plus some booze and I'll be cross eyed by 6am..
Might have been tempted to declare when Archer out, couple down before close would have been sweet.
Couple down before the close would have been sweet - expect they are still stressing over the last game at this ground when they posted 477 and still lost be an innings

I've just told a friend who is very excited about the prospect of snow and always believes me ahead of any media forecasts, that there has been a complete turnaround and we are now expecting drizzle and 3C.
Am I a bad person?
