  1. Would you be brave enough to estimate if this will all change towards autumn. It seems to me that this Azores ridge has been the main/or a fact of controller since Jan this year, its never appeared to have moved much.
  2. I know one thing all these people moaning they havent had a good summer. I am so glad that this type of heat stays the other side of the channel. Sometimes people really should think twice about what they wish for.
  3. Ok a little result in my previous conversations with one or two people. I think one of the reasons the CET is average is that we appear to have had somewhat colder nights at times. Below is a list of the top temps in Essex every week since the 1st June. This is from WU so maybe not precise. 27, 23, 25, 27, 31, 26, 26, 26, 26, 28c Now if you mean above average is over 30c then yes its been a very cold poor summer lol... Also of course we could argue that it only reached that temp once each week and every other day was 15c. However I dont consider that to bad for a summer, because many days down here were not far short of the top temp each week. Also the rainfall recorded is far higher than what we have recieved down here. In fact I ma pretty sure we have had almost none for over 10 days to 2 weeks.
  4. Yet another day over 25c, warm humid at least a breeze now.
  5. 23c cloudy bright/sunny bits and feels horribly sweaty and humid, oh of course the westerlies are back, yuk yuk.
  6. I really dont know how much rain we missed here, just suffice to say most of it. Looking at the days of T storms that slid past to the north west of here and the fizzle out fronts that never got here. Which is why I was saying that my comments where leveled at here, not rest of Essex or UK, which has had considerable more rain than here Apart from that really crappy sunday where it rained everywhere down here lol.. To be honest I would really be interested in the difference between here and say the CET.
  7. See this again is how people see things with or without the MO or their own weather stations or just there feel of weather from living a long while and taking an interest in it. Where ever you are in essex se england its not here. Had I not watered my plants every day bar a few, then my garden would be dead. If we had average rainfall for July and it all fell on one day which it can often do. Say 1st July, what do the plants do for the next 30 days, but the history tells us oh no problem we had average rainfall for this month. I don't mean to be awkward but you cannot ever rely totally on an overall average for a month or season, because it hides many factors in our day to day life.
  8. Yep you could be right there, well corrected.
  9. OK not wishing to start anything here. !st July was 14c above average. Well above average I think roughly is say 2-4c above average. In fact if you read Weather around world, Spain had its hottest ever July and that came out at 4c over normal, average overall was 27c, CST Also the CET is just that central. I am referring to this tiny segment as I am allowed to do. I agree that there are many places further north that have had a real bummer of a summer. All I was saying was that it had been dryer than normal and warmer than normal in this area, in this area, in this area. My water butt has only filled up twice this summer since the start of summer and one of those was a T storm. This topic is about Summer so I am speaking for my area. Of course there have been colder spells, but short lived
  10. Hate to say this but its from the 6th Jan to 8th July unless I am mistaken so it cant be used in any way for the last 3 months only as per this year to 1 month ago.
  11. OK you have a fair point, please prove why this is a nothing summer, esp as you live in London. Also John Holmes has already asked you prove that the south east has had a nothing summer. We await with interest, as rainfall has been well below average and temps have been well above average.
  12. A nothing summer, what part of London do you live in the Arctic par or did you live in the Carabian or Gobi desert Rainfall far below normal, most grass looking brown, sure sign of warm summer and no rain. Now if you lived in NW UK or Scotland then you have a right to moan.
  13. Two sunny days with calm morning conditions and bingo, sea breeze is back. YIIIPPPPPEEEEEE All change, now have half sun symbols, no heavy cloud and little rain.
  14. Talking of which if you look at net weathers temp chart for most of this summer its almost always been red for the southeast, which means pretty good summer down here. So what are the chances of the same area being blue for a couple months of the coming winter to replicate the same weather pattern. :yahoo:
  15. I look at the XC Weather forcast which is very basic and run from the GFS and it looks horrible later in week. I read the MO forcast and it was looking like the south of the med here. Much the same on here sometimes lol....
  16. Great if you have an iphone/pad. Bet it also works best in the USA, like many weather gadgets.
  17. The med like the north sea can change pretty quickly given the right synoptic's. However the Atlantic is a different body of water to change.
  18. Yes Dave, the number of windy days, I didnt realise there were that many, I knew it was high. Part of the reason I think is this constant south westerly wind pattern which I hate in the summer, as it produces high humidity most of the time. I have chatted with many friends about it in my line of work. The other factor is the total lack of sea breezes yet again this summer. We normally get the high over us or to the north/south east of us. This creates calm days, which heat up and bring sea breezes just to the coasts. Which is why many people have been moaning about the windy days, its normally just the coasts that get them in the summer. Yes Ben, this area must be 50/80% down on rainfall this summer, most grass areas are like deserts and yes we can and do use watering cans hoses buckets and whatever. HOwever its just not the same as that lovely acidic pollutant filled natural stuff that comes from the sky.
  19. What a very strange harsh thing to say. Even if we are one of the wettest country's in Europe, we still have drought situations or periods of very low rainfall. We very much do need rain, esp in the summer, yes it would be nice for it to rain just at night, to enable us humans to make the most of t he daytime weather.
  20. Its lovely and sunny here. PLenty of high cloud at times, but so far not enough to put out the sun. A very nice 21c, perfect temp.
  21. How do you know the photo will be out of focus before you take it, lol... (joke)
  22. Feels nice and cool here now, with small cool breeze off the sea. Nice sleeping night.
