We've been hammered in Rotherham approaching 10cm overnight and lots more to come! Could not 20cm by days close! A trough due in at 12 will enhance convection again Sorry wrong thread!

Yeah point definitely taken. Will depend on how close to the South East the initial motion takes it before it starts heading North West. What time do you think?

I would say further North Steve. Winds will be more South Easterly by midnight

Where do you get the energy mov8ng southward from? If anything I'd say it's dieing near the number now

The wind has shifted more East South Easterly now which is helping!

Hahahaha its a very thin line of showers at the minute hitting doncaster rotherham southern sheffield. Time for things to change tho!

Barnsley possibly too far north for the stream of showers at the minute i would say. WInds change direction though further into the night

There was a reason met said 10-20cm by close of play wednesday in these parts mate. Its this period between now and thursday morning. Conditions are ripe for a hammering somewhere

Everything is dropping go on GFS and look at how the 510 line filters in after 3pm. Some crazy convection to come... dont think people realise how much worse its going to actually get. Im with Steve Murr on this

Some of the heaviest snow ive seen in Rotherham! Settled a quick 1cm already!

The 510 line, 850's etc dont even hit our region until 3pm onwards guys. Ill do a naked dance in the peak gardens in Sheffield if we dont get a good covering of snow before thursday morning over most of the region!

Has everyone elses radar got stuck?!? By the way the current shower is sticking miles more readily! A sure sign 850's and thicknesses are quickly dropping!

Im looking at the second band currently showing signs of back building and reorientating. Wait and see the flow is alligning but agree on tonights potential.

Just to add the flow is almost perfect for us from 12pm for 7 hours and wind speed wise these will be relatively slow moving so when they set in they could dump a fair amount! Im surprised we have no amber. Ill be keeping an eye out once the current one expires at 11am

Look at how the thicknesses expload between 9am and 7pm. That my friends is a recipe for explosive convection. The met app symbols have responded accordingly here
