  1. I cannot see where the mild trends are? Is it just reaction to bad runs based on past winters? The overall trend is not looking bad, no low after low cannon balls crossing the uk like some certain previous winters (that some folks are still in therapy over). Based on trends wouldn't it be fair to say things could go any where yet? Maybe a bit meh... It's hardly looking super mild or super cold right now is it??
  2. Hello! Looking at the spread of the gfs ensembles (as an example) after the 11th , how confident is anyone declaring mild temps? Same for v cold? Will be interesting seeing whatever evolves though.
  3. To add its nothing like the last couple of years. I think giving the models a chance to resolve themselves is probably wisest and sanest move. It’s only just begun this year!
  4. Agree, mentions of mild SW on the mod thread just comes across as trolling! Nothing really mild or like the worst of recent winters. Interesting to see how it all pans out towards end of month! Keeping the faith ️
  5. Sharp shower, quite heavy half hour ago near Nuneaton. Temp 2c according to car. Bands of ppm moving SW direction?
  6. Wonderwall by Mike Flowers pops and Everything I do I do it for you by Fatima Mansions. No idea why, just the time of year when I remember hearing the most
  7. Big band of ppm descending sort of SE wards from the north...don’t tell me...more rain? Still as others are saying this is still only the start of winter. Nothing mild on the horizon anytime soon. What’s to complain about?
  8. and wellies +Umbrellas it seems. its so WET out there
  9. Now in the Met office updated weather warning for snow. Still just cold rain. oh hum. Maybe later, yes?
  10. DItto here. 3C with drizzle. There is only so long you can spend staring at it before acceptance kicks in that nothings doin,.. Keeping an open mind and you just never know what might turn later?
  11. Looks like light rain now here on the leading edge of the ppn. very light, still wondering how far that band will move across the Midlands?
  12. Met Office yellow warning East Anglia for today, looks like there may be a bit of snow for the East Midlands after all, even if short lived!
  13. Looking at the radar, the big band of PPN in the east appears to be pivoting slightly and slowing spreading Westwards. Not sure where it's headed.
  14. I'm still hopeful over here in Leicestershire. tbh not expecting anything much. Whatever happens will not be a bad start for winter (apart from torrential rain or a heatwave of course)
  15. working from home Friday, and will be by the window just in case....so what’s the best model for short range to aid nowcasting? what chances of anything interesting in the East/West Mids??
  16. Bright Sun and dry here in Notts. Who knows what the end of the week will bring? Forecasts I’m seeing vary wildly, rain, sleet. Snow ️ at least it looks interesting early December for a change!
  17. Hi all...Lamp post watching! Can't wait! Anything will be better though than this drab wet weather, cold and frosts will do. Snow will be a bonus!
  18. Longtime lurker. Interesting start for December and Winter is charts like this keep showing....yes it's the GFS and yes it's at 159.. does getting a little bit excited jinx things? No matter what, end of next week might be interesting. Keep thinking positive thoughts..
  19. Cold one this morning with a frost. Sunny now. Compared to yesterday which was dull as.. Looking forward to watching model fun and games over winter, already looking a lot different from last year. Already got Christmas lights up as seems to be the thing this year
  20. Exactly that sort of thing! Now would that be a fabled channel low?
  21. RAMP! Seems there is some interest in the charts on the mod forum (94 viewing now), really hope it continues with more hints at proper cold. We plan to put Christmas decorations up next (for kids sake of course...) really hoping the weather sort of...follows! Do not want the bore fest of previous years
  22. Really grey and 'typically' dull today. I think milder though 14c at the mo. Weather warning out for rain, great
