Totally agree,for me the heat is vile uncomfortable misery. A crisp winters morning always will win hands down...but its each to their own though.. Some do like the heat,personally i have no idea why but respect should be shown on both sides,something which i'm afraid at times is in short supply on these forums.

With out doubt this winter is the worst for over a decade,even 13/14 had rain and storms,this winter...nothing. Fingers crossed this summer is the opposite of last year,the rain fall totals certainly need to be increased,never seen levels this low at this time of year,very worrying.

If one throws darts at a dart board for long enough you will hit the bulls eye.....the met office seem to have a rather lot of darts!!

I live on a dual carriageway,so need to keep windows shut at night for noise.The aircon is needed in summer,not bragging,not showing off,just need to sleep!! Just out of curiosity how many times have you visited Sheffield?

I'm the total opposite,my electric bill is 3 times higher in the summer. Air con at home see's to that,this winter has been that mild i've hardly had any heating on. To say folk who really ramp up the cold in the Winter months not living in the real world is just the same as saying folk who ramp up the love of heat in the summer don't live in the real world surely? Everybody is different,we all feel temps differently,

Fingers crossed the rain will come and no repeat of last year,that could be very hard both for wildlife and business that relies on a normal Summer.

I appreciate that,your area had the only real Winter weather this year. But much of that sodden earth is just that,the water levels are still to low. I don't want a washout,far from it,but a balance would be in my opinion a more favourable outcome.

Very depressing temps for this time of year,its like nature hasn't seasons any longer. Believe it or not we need the cold,this winter has done nothing. The prospect of a warm Spring followed by a hot Summer fills me with dread,fingers crossed the Atlantic will bring much needed rain soon. Sadly i was right a month ago to right this Winter off. I wish i hadn't been.

We certainly need a very wet Spring,levels are far to low for this time of year. Far better a wet Spring than a wet Summer(i would like both!) but Summer is the holiday period,a lot depends on that time of year.

Warm is fine(sub 20c),hot(plus 20c)......different kettle of fish entirely

Not long to go then to misery......

Dreading the onset of the dark cloud that is Summer,leaving my favourite season of the year as Winter draws closer to the end fills me with a feeling of foreboding,for me Spring and Summer only bring misery,seriously will be making the most of what's left of this poor winter and will soon be counting the days to that welcome Autumn. It won't come quick enough.

For me personally driving to work in the dark and watching a sunrise is the best part of my day,that first change of light is fantastic,the way it changes the landscape in the matter of minutes,something lost in the summer months with such a early sunrise.

For me the light levels will hit their best in about a months time,little bit more morning and evening light but nothing to much. Realise my view is different,but for me the increase in light levels is at the best uncomfortable.

I suspect sadly i have been proved right.....first time for everything i suppose! This winter will go down as very poor even with today's snow which i was in,nothing to right home about at all. The snowflake generation just like all the hype i'm afraid from the media,driving home last night the roads were quiet at rush hour,all the snowflakes were tucked up in their warm little houses,god help them if they had a to go through a proper winter! i'm still working in shorts at the end of January that's how bad its been!!!

Sadly it really looks i was proved right,a rainbow winter it is,never delivering,that pot of gold just disappears as soon as we get near it. Oh well always next year...Just hope this summer isn't a repeat of 2018,i couldn't stand that!!

Fully agree,the phrase "Rainbow winter" is more correct way of describing the UK winters,that pot of gold seems near but never actually arrives. This winter is shaping up to be just that,seen it time after time sadly. Just hope folk don't get to worked up when what shows on the models never actually comes true.

Sadly starting to think this will turn out to be a rainbow winter...when the pot of gold gets near it just vanishes.
