Must feel weird the areas further north and in the Lee of mountains getting above 15c at this time of year, in my location we hit a ceiling at around 12-13c and seem to never go higher no matter how warm the airmass is. Must be the sea air.
The default in summer here certainly isn't cool, wet and cloudy but rather warm, dry and partly cloudy, most of the cloud sticks to inland areas. Winter though is definitely mild, wet and windy!
December 2015 was very mild (almost warm) and fairly dry down here by December's standards. I realise though that it was extremely wet further north and west.
I agree ciaran definitely deserved its name, imagine if they hadn't sent out the warnings and it tracked further north? Nobody would trust the met office again!
Oh I realise that, what I mean is, last year there were practically no named storms anywhere even though there were quite a few vicious storms. This year they seemed to have lowered the bar required to name one. Maybe I'm wrong?
There seems to be no consistency on storm naming from year to year, last year there were quite a few storms that would've easily warranted a name had they happened this year, but this year they seem to be naming every other low pressure system. It seems to me that one year they lower the bar but the next they raise it?
Well it's only on top for consecutive 32c days isnt it? For example august 2020 beats 1976 in consecutive 34c+ days so it depends on how you compare.
I mean,it's like a game of top trumps, 1976 and 1995 don't win on every single compartment.
