  1. anybody STILL think september is a summer month?... lol... seriously, even if it was sunny and warm, the leaves are clearly turning, they have lost there summer verdant glow, the growth has stopped, everythings shabby, dying, shutting down. imho its high time the 'official' seasonal dates were changed to the metereological ones which reflesct natures idea of the seasons far more accurately.
  2. well that would give some credence to a reported met offices 'indian summer' likely. its certainly looking cool/below average and we could get some very low overnight temps.
  3. you expect us to accept your constant moanings about summer warmth, but cant seem to comprehend that some of us dont like cold weather. you cite hayfever, i cite intollerance to cold .
  4. anomalies suggest a mean upper trough over the uk with a strong westerly upper flow, so any ridging will be temporary..
  5. what a dreadful start to a working day, cold, damp, manky autumnal smell, nothing to look foreward to but cold dark days. roll on spring... *mischievous snigger*
  6. so basically we are in agreement.. but tbh i cannot see mugworth, nor nettle, producing the amount trees or grass does... but hey, people suffer so somethings responsible.
  7. weed?... what weeds have airborne pollen?... fungus spores? not 'hay' fever then ... lol i guess any alergic reaction to 'summer stuff' gets lumped in under the 'hay'fever tag. when i got it, i only got it in june/early july. by mid july it was over for me.
  8. yes, 26c and fresh, not humid, quite unexpected tbh i expected it to be muggy/humid but it wasnt. hayfever? at this time of the year?.... i dont get that - all the air borne pollen was over ages ago.
  9. 26c and clear fresh air... ok, only for a few hours in the afternoon but it was extremely pleasant, warmth, freshness, breeze, dry, sunny - perfect.
  10. autumn humidity is worse then summer.. its worse, its wetter, it clings more... i too havnt liked these current conditions , but its better when its sunny hot humidity, at least you can enjoy being outdoors.
  11. i was think of it sitting right on top of us and pishing it down! lol.
  12. gert isnt behaving... its taking much longer then originally thought for it to cross... it must throw great uncertainty into next week..
  13. disagree with you old chap... they have been spot on for here.
  14. fair comment about pollen but its hardly a 'stench' is it!
  15. stench of summer?..... my god, where do you live, a sewage farm?. the only scents i get in summer are off blooms, lilies, jasmine, roses, etc etc etc... all i get in autumn are smelly dying plants, dead/decaying vegetation, dampness, and chilly. i dont mind winter because the aira clean - but theres nothing to compare to a mild spring day in april, when the air is full of the freshness of new growth.
  16. this is why i dont like august/september. yesterday was very pleasant in the afternoon, but the scent in this mornings chilly air smacks of autumn. next weeks looking cool too. but mainly dry?
  17. trouble is, we keep the mean upper westerly and the high pressure remains to our south. good news for southern areas, and indeed there might be a plume if we get ridging crossing the uk. thats always likely with high pressure close to our south, but we still get a westerly flow.
  18. oh i see... fair comment, i cant comment on canada, ive not been.
  19. oh the pretty colours - of death.. a pretend summer month , a pretend autumn month... its a nothing month just waiting for autumn proper. the fresh colours of spring are far superior, not as '70's wallpaper' , but new vibrant growth full of hope.
  20. eh?.... i must have been asleep, or drunk... ive not had any summer that featured heatwaves or repetitive spanish plumes for over ten years. ok 2013 had a heatwave, disrupted but plenty of heat in july.
  21. september bores me......dreadful month of coming death and darkness.
  22. summer is gone for me m8y, but anyway... not defeatist, just realistic based on what the anomaly charts are predicting. currently they dont allow for a gfs type settled/hot spell other then transitory ridging. we know the anomaly charts are more accurate, look at today for eg, pleasant? yes! but its not the heatwave the gfs was predicting several days ago... no warm uppers...no large high across southern uk. whilst the gfs and ecm were suggesting this would be a decent lengthy settled spell the anomalies were never on board - maintaining the strong upper westerly flow. theres grounds for optimism as its looking like pressure wont be as low after this coming week, so it could be drier and warmer, but until theres anomaly support for the gfs - ill not believe it will happen. no point in getting up false hope when theres an elephant in the room saying 'no'. edit... ive just viewed the 06z, that has dropped the previous runs amplified high pressure build, and is far more in line IMHO with what the anomaly charts suggest...
  23. completely agree, im ignoring the gfs outputs, until there is a significant change in the anomaly outputs - the gfs lengthy settled spell simply will not, can not, happen (other then a transitory 24-48 hour event).
