  1. The Mets latest 6 day forecast for this area is encouraging. Between now and Friday, real feel temperatures will struggle to get above 0C. Sunday and Monday look to be the coldest days with a few sleet or snow showers. What's not to like...
  2. The snows taken a hammering overnight thanks to milder temperatures and a brisk SW wind. Trending colder again in a few hours and the prospect for an ice day for parts of NE Scotland and wintry weather further west and south. Looking chilly next week with temperatures close to freezing coupled with an increase in precipitation mid week onwards. Could be interesting....
  3. That's Corrennie Woods Tillyfourie. There is so much terrain to explore you could spend days up there. Definitely worth checking out, the views are great, its super quiet and the hound will love it. Forestry operations have ceased for a few days, allowing full access to the hills. Take advantage while its quiet
  4. Northen facing hills took a bit of a hammering earlier on today. I was hill walking yesterday and there wasn't a hint of snow. Much different today with decent accumulations. Evidence of drifting with elevation, approaching the tops, blowing powder snow. On the descent, bumped into a couple of cross country skiers heading up. Just awesome! A few pictures:
  5. Think that's it for snow today. Looking around 3cms. Away to hit the local hills with high expectations following Ravelins report. Ill grab some pictures on the way up. Should be around half a foot easy at 350 meters ASL.
  6. Fairly heavy snow now, accumulations increasing.
  7. Morning, Snow through the night has left around 1cm. Boom! #Snow bomb. 1947, 1963 and shades of 66 Met forecast is for the snow to continue until 17.00. Unless things change spectacularly overnight, a white Christmas....sort of. Lecht snow gates, Aberdeen side, looking good.
  8. Alford Aberdeenshire 1984. A repeat of that would be perfect.
  9. No worries . I remain fairly optimistic for this winter, hopefully Scotland sees the goods soon.
  10. The Met Office take on the next 10 days. Looks okay for Scotland at least.
  11. Typical UK winter weather. Certainly an improvement on last year.
  12. Theres yellow warnings, for snow and ice, that cover the northern half of Scotland today and tomorrow.
  13. Met office have issued a yellow warning for snow and ice today and tomorrow. The warning covers the northern half of Scotland.
  14. Feeling chilly at 3C, cloudy with light rain. Colder tomoroow with snow.
  15. Roughly 5-10% of the posts are worth reading. Sort the chaff from the wheat and it's very informative.
  16. Lecht Ski centre pisting before the snow starts. Could be decent snowfall up there if the forecast holds.
  17. Perfect hill walking conditions this morning, sunny and 3C but feeling a bit colder thanks to a brisk wind higher up. Local hills looking west.
  18. Stick with the weekly Met Office 10 day trend and you’ll seldom be disappointed.
  19. Happy winter solstice day! Colder again this morning at 3C. A dry day, cloudy with occasional watery sunshine so far. Definitely feeling seasonal, wouldn't rule out snow over the next few days.
  20. Snow, possibly lying, for parts of Grampian and Highlands and Eilean Siar from Tuesday onwards and not confined to the mountains.
  21. BBC weather. Parts of Wales and Southern England are tipped to record the lowest Christmas day temperatures. No mention of any snow.
  22. If cold weather is not your cup of tea, the UK should suit you perfectly.
