  1. A colder brighter start this morning, temperature of 4.5C. The latest Met Office forecast is now showing temperatures picking up through Christmas day and into boxing day as the winds switch to a WSW direction. Before then, a few days of colder drier weather to enjoy. Latest Met Office tweet stating they don't see "anything majorily cold" at this time. Mmmmmm.
  2. I caught the BBC weather tonight, they see Xmas day temperatures ranging between 4c- 9c. Plenty of time for change.
  3. Good time to buy Kero, prices are cheap as chips. I topped off the rank with 500 litres this week for £180.
  4. If that pans out a decent spell of seasonal weather over the next few weeks. Bank!
  5. I wonder if by modified they perhaps meant windchill temperatures? From Wednesday next week real feel temperatures definitely head lower as the winds swing around to a more NW or N direction. Definitely a chance of something seasonal next week.
  6. John Holmes just posted his initial thoughts on the potential cold spell next week. "Generally cold and dry" Pretty much in line with the Mets thoughts a few days ago. Although they did mention "wintry showers for the North" Hopefully it doesn't go tits up.
  7. Indeed! The thread is fortunate to have the insights of a professional meteorologist.
  8. Sorting the chaff from the wheat will make for a more enjoyable experience on the MOD thread.
  9. As it stands, a white Christmas is on the cards for parts of Scotland. Braemar, Strathdon, Aviemore all have snow symbols for Christmas day. Hopefully more locations are earmarked for snow as we push into next week. Source: Met Office.
  10. Sounds intriguing, whats the general gist? Should I buy a scarf or speedos? ?
  11. Its possible that every future UK winter could rival 2010. However, the Met Office believe such a winter, might only happen once every 40 years.
  12. Another fine day here in Aberdeenshire. Just about warm enough to sit outside with a cup of coffee. Currently 8C
  13. The Met Office 10 day outlook suggests colder weather will arrive next week with the risk of wintry showers for the North.
  14. UK winter 2020/21 will probably be similar to the last three winters. Snow mostly confined to the mountains, coldest temperature around -12C. Thats my guess anyway.
  15. The only hint of Autumnal weather here so far was a power cut due to high winds a couple of weeks ago. Last Thursday and Friday was warm enough to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. Noted 10C while driving past the Glenshee ski centre around 1pm, absolute pea soup, could barely see 30 meters in front. Currently 11C.
  16. Another bright sunny start, cooler of late with temperatures forecast to fall to 5C this afternoon. Factor in the wind, real feel 1C at 4pm.
  17. Another fine day, sunny intervals and a warm breeze. Evidence of rain through the night. Currently 12C.
  18. Social distancing if you're behind a cyclist is recommended 10 possibly 20 meters.
  19. Clouded over pretty quickly. Had to dash and take the washing in as the farmers turned up with different machinery that kicks up major dust. Forecast is for rain later on.
  20. Another cracking day, bright with sunny intervals and a slight wind. Sitting outside in a tee shirt for the first time this year. The village i live in is quieter than normal of late, possibly another coronavirus case not to far from here. There's another neighbour, serous underlying health issues, is back in ICU on a ventilator with the virus. I think at some point, most people will get it.
  21. Chilly start at 0530, 1C with a slight frost on the car windscreen. Absolute glorious spring day, wall to wall sunshine and now warm enough to sit outside.Forecast is for temperatures to hit 13C locally this afternoon.
  22. The local farmers are fairly putting in a major shift of late. It's not unusual to see the tractors working at 9pm. Ploughing is underway in the big field in front of the house, fair amount of dust being kicked up.
  23. 14C bright, sunny with a gusty wind. Borderline summer up these parts. Awaiting the final load of firewood at 1pm. Perfect day for it
