  1. Amber warning required for sure, many places had more than 10cm, it wasn't just in isolated spots
  2. Whiteout here, don't think gritting will help much at this point. At least it's a Sunday evening.. should be quiet!
  3. Yup tonight's event definitely outperformed what was shown a day or two ago, and the snow certainly makes the cold spell much more memorable now!
  4. Was very wet in central London.. but back in Tottenham now and it's white everywhere! Many happy faces around London tonight I bet
  5. Latest 12Z Arome broadly backs up the Met Office warning. Looks a bit frustrating for Londoners if this comes off, with the largest accumulations circling the capital Current radar vs. Arome V. similar but it'll still be down to radar watching. Hoping for a few cm in NE London from this.
  6. Thick fog and frost to start the day in North London with the river Lea freezing over in places. It’s still around -2 Confidence seems to have increased for snow across the SE overnight, some places could get a dumping where the PPN stalls and pivots
  7. Day by day the cold spell keeps on getting extended. These are quite unusual synoptics.. I wonder if the Hunga Tonga eruption is affecting the northern hemisphere winter?
  8. So the colder northerly air is very much in the reliable time frame now, with it set to flow into Scotland on Tues and clear the South on Wednesday. Looks like we'll have much lower 2m and dew point temps and so the snow risk increases This cold spell will also bring London's first frost (unless I missed one), v. late!
  9. We've had a chilly few days in London but nothing unusual. But WOW next week's cold has really turned quite notable now. 6Z GFS shows parts of the country remaining below freezing with consecutive ice days from Thursday onwards. Lows of -10°C across Scotland and N England, and that could easily drop to -15 -20°C with deep snow cover and light winds. *RAMP* 2M temp & Wind chill >
  10. Next week max temps for London according to 12Z GFS 6, 8, 7, 7, 6°C Not really cold for most and next Wednesday looks particularly grim with cold rain and wind chill close to 0, but the charts look great thereafter though!
  11. The very cold weather has been 10 days away.. for the past 10 days lol
