  1. The very cold weather has been 10 days away.. for the past 10 days lol
  2. ??? There’s no significantly cold weather on the cards for the UK, nor is there extreme cold to our east.
  3. Not what i'd describe as cold in the reliable time frame though, it just looks like a return to average temps or just below IMBY. Avg December high in London is 8-9°C Next week (GFS): 10, 8, 9, 8, 6, 6, 7°C
  4. "The GFS looks good, it just delays the easterly a bit" Oh we've heard this before
  5. The forecast synoptics look good from the outset but there's just not much cold air to deliver anything noteworthy. We've had the same issue for the past 2 winters in the SE. Mediocre easterlies bringing chilly air with low cloud and rain. Hope things improve but currently not much more than a seasonal start to winter on offer - which is at least better than mild, Atlantic driven weather IMO!
  6. Bedroom temp at a comfortable/chilly 19-20°C with the recent cooler weather. Relative to my current room temps, 12-14°C would be absolutely freezing..!
  7. A very abrupt change in wind direction across the Southern half of the country this afternoon
  8. How is it that central & northern Italy can be as cold, if not colder, than e.g. London during winter? Don't the Alps block cold air from the North? and doesn't the Mediterranean moderate temperatures?
  9. Quite an intense early cold snap hitting western Canada inc. Vancouver - which is sometimes described as having a similar climate to southern England. Goes to show that we can still get frigid winter weather here just like we get blistering summer heatwaves.. (Fingers crossed)
  10. Window closed all night and woke up to an indoor temp of 27°C (no heating on) London new builds are furnaces in the summer but c'mon it's 4 days until November, we need some cooler airmasses
  11. It's t shirt weather in London. While it's not unusual to get warm days in October, the persistence of above avg temps is depressing. And there's no sign of anything below avg in the reliable timeframe..
  12. Gust front in West London with trees down Quite a violent storm
  13. Looks slightly tornadic with the sudden increase in winds and changing of direction at the end
  14. The ferocity of the storms ending with a decent sunset, and looks an anvil in the distance
  15. WOW. That was one of the most intense storms I’ve ever experienced in the UK. It was calm and light and suddenly within a few seconds it turned apocalyptic. Roaring wind, rain, hail, lightning, low visibility. Loved it! My view from north London: FullSizeRender.MOV
  16. What a horrible night, 17°C outside at 2AM and very humid. This is the worst type of weather for me, and unfortunately it looks unlikely to dip below 10°C for the foreseeable future.
  17. Below 18 degrees inside is chilly for most normal people, and potentially dangerous for at risk individuals. Do we have to sleep in jumpers, hats and scarfs to avoid the guilt tripping
  18. Absolutely stunning early autumnal sunshine over London right this afternoon, with the elongated shadows signalling that summer is well and truly over now. Can't wait for the crisp, cool mornings and leaf fall
  19. It is remarkable how the landscape has turned lush again after the recent downpours in London. Fresh grass and weeds popping up everywhere, it's almost like a second spring.
  20. One of the best, if not *the best* summer on record for London. Persistently warm and dry throughout most of the summer with a few hot spells and of course the first 40°C on record. Historic.
  21. Flooding rains in central London. As a rough estimate, my empty plant pots outside now have about 2 inches of water in them just from the last hour Plenty of thunder & lightening too. What an abrupt end to the long dry spell!
  22. 31°C down from a peak of 34°C this afternoon. Very uncomfortable but it feels good knowing the end is near!
