  1. Same here, I'm about 57 miles from you. Started the day clear with altocumulus, crud set in from the north mid morning. Now low cumulus forming under it from north to east direction. Have my radio tuned into a station about 540khz, so hoping to pick up any sferics as the day goes on. The sun trying its best where crud levels are thin. Fingers crossed and good luck to all.
  2. Two strikes noted on Blitzortung, south of llanwrst, and one to the west towards Ruthin. Random strikes, looks like they are social distancing too.
  3. ESTOFEX are back up and running. When did that happen? Gone dull and murky in my part of Cheshire, very doubtful for anything convective, doubtful for even a drop of rain.
  4. Thanks for your reply, I wondered also if it could be the lack of flight data.
  5. ESTOFEX have no valid storm forecasts available, last forecast was 24/25th March. Has this service been temporary suspended due to the current global crisis? Am I having a mushy pea brain moment and missing something? Can anyone shed any lightning on the matter. Pun intended. Thank you.
  6. Yep, lovely walk to and from work today, tis feeling much cooler now.
  7. Morning all, hope you are all well. Yesterday would have been the first day I didn't need my coat on to walk home from work, but carrying some essentials home to drop off for my two vulnerables, I had to keep it on, and boy was I rather warm. Another beautiful day has dawned, another pleasant walk to work serenaded by bird twitter. Hope you all manage to get outside to soak up some vit.D cos going to be getting cooler. Keep safe.
  8. My heart goes out to you, it's a really desperate time, we are acting on advice given and praying it is the right thing to do. Perhaps now is a good idea to set up that thread of support you suggested on Sunday.
  9. Driving back from mums just over half hour ago, good mix of hail, sleet and rain. Did not see any lightning. Temp on the way about 7pm was 6°, dropped to 3° coming home. Light rain at the moment.
  10. My sentiments exactly. I read through the first few pages of this thread earlier and in comparison to what to what is being posted now is mind blowing, and in such a short period of time. Thank you for starting what has become such an important source of up to date factual information, this thread for me fills the gaps the news channels leave empty.
  11. Snippers very first post on this thread. This was ONLY 58 days ago. Unbelievable but true.
  12. Wind picking up here too with rain. Temp dropped by a degree in the last hour to 7°. It feels much colder, just dipped into the Ireland thread, some nice snow falling in Belfast.
  13. Now I get why loo roll has flown off shelves.
  14. March seems to have got off to a decent start. Nice to feel the benefit of true daylight hours not being cut short by endless grey cloud coverage. Also noticing the sun gaining strength. Saw a robin on my way to work this morning, not seen one for a very long time, made me smile from the inside out.
  15. Neverending spells of wet greyness, l renamed it grimter. February reminded me of what snow looked like. Grateful not to be caught up in the devastating floods.
  16. Shopping trolleys and baskets have also been thrown into the mix for being contaminated by touch, but why hasn't anyone highlighted money? The plastic notes get put in mouths whilst ferreting in purses and pockets for change, this goes in a till drawer possibly contaminating the contents thereof only to be re-issued. Not to mention the number of hands the money passes through before it reaches yours.
  17. Same here, l would love a repeat or two of a fab storm that happened in the early hours of the 24th July last year. A cell formed over Wrexham way, moved east and came right over Macclesfield, lightning came from every direction accompanied with some of the loudest thunder not heard in a while, got goosebumps thinking about it. I get so excited and restless if there's a sniff of a thunderstorm imminent, much worse than a child on xmas eve.
  18. Temp 3°, sleety showers. The hills carrying the A537 Cat and Fiddle road out of Macc are totally obscured, either by fog or snowfall, a look at the Cat web cam will tell me which. Lots of green shadows on the radar so a sleety showery outlook for the time being.
  19. Looks like a sun pillar to me. Lovely photo of one.
  20. I agree, I'm not holding my breath for any snow, if it falls, it will only be to look at on the hills surrounding Macc. Now we have storm Jorge to look forward to bringing gusty rain. My thoughts are now looking towards spring, with some decent prolonged dry spells and the start of a good season of some brilliant convective activity.
  21. I suppose if you live in the high risk flood areas, with the risk of more prolonged further flooding and flood defences being over topped you wouldn't give a flying fridge magnet that it has a name.
  22. Cars coming into town with a few centimetres of snow on them. Reminds me of the Bullseye tv programme, ' live a few feet further up, and look at what you could have had'.
  23. Evidence of a snow shower here, dusting on fence, shed car and roof tops, but its disappearing fast. Had rain all through the night, so fortunate to have had this. Drizzle now.
