John, I know this has been said plenty of times, but really enjoy your posts, easy to read, you never go to far out in to FI, and although you are a cold lover, you say it as you see it
The south east thread are lucky to have you and of course Steve Murr on our thread, keep up the good work

My god the price of fireworks has rocketed!! just been to our local news agents as the kids were asking for some!! none of them are priced up, so i said can i have a pack of the rockets, and that nice big selection box, £200!!!! £110 for 5 rockets (ok they are the size of a small missile!!) I told him where to stick his fireworks, we will be watching eveyone else send their money into the air!!
Sorry rant over, weather is cold and clear

Nothing but about half an hour heavyish rain
-
I am currently near to st albans and we have heavy rain with the odd flash of lightning. Nothing overly spectacular though. Currently heading east toward Hertford
I am in Hertford, very dark, and rain getting heavier and heavier, winds picking up as well
-
I hope they get something, and get some good footage, just wish their net signal would work for the stream. Or is it just not working for me today?
Not just you, I got it working for a few minutes, but then nothing since
-
Yes on my iPad, was working fine earlier

Keep getting message, operation could not be completed

Constant snow here for the last few hours, but not settling,

I now actually think the band of precips is coming southward. Starting drop below Norwich.
Not the southward movement again! Don't think my eyes can handle another night radar watching!! And for no reward! This winter is wearing me out
-
I know buntingford very well, but not sure it has much to do with town heat? Hertford is hardly a big town, and I am more on the edge so towards the viaduct, I just think we have been a bit unlucky this winter, either to far north like the last snow fall, and today just a tad to far south
-
-
Yep same here although still light to moderate here. Have around 8cm. Watch radar towards Colchester. Precip is moving east to west and sliping south v slightly. Might get a few more cms if you / we are lucky. Don't expect the band to move south much at all over nxt 12 hrs so Cambs could do very well along with east Northants etc
Roads and paths still clear here, about 3cm so no gain on 10am this morning, I reckon the council came around and put bloody underground heating in! In fact that would explain the lamppost failure Thursday night!
-
Do have a higher elevation though, not an awful lot, but it would seem enough.
So is this meant to drop south? Or just start to break up in its current position? Radar looked so promising an hour ago
-
Latest NAE has the front continuing in its current position all night, perhaps slightly further south. Tommorow will be light snow for the north of the region and flurries in the south dying out late afternoon
Typical just to far south! Stopped about an hour ago, yet buntingford measuring 12cm! Nowhere near that here!
-
Would be very surprised to see it get that far south / south of the Thames. NAE, UKMV etc all have sticking north of London and then fizzling out.
Still snowing lightly here, is this set now for a few hours? From the radar we seem to be at the southern side of it? So if it starts dropping south could be a few hours of steady snow
-
Ok what has been a small disappointment during the day! Lots of snow, but getting very slushy and lots of melt,
It has now started to look very promising from the radar, and a good couple of hours, with lower temps, should give a good covering
-
Looking at the radar, it will not be long before it clears here, am i right in thinking this is going to then drop south again? back up to 3cm here, but still no covering on roads or paths, and getting very light again
-
The thing is with this 'if conditions were right' thing is that actually its 23rd March so very hard to get that lovely freezing for days, blowing snow, laying snow for days etc etc...further North has been spectacular for late March in my eyes...and yet still margnal events being reported at lower levels....elevation is key now............
Here in London its wet, snowng, sleeting, and the worst form of weather type......just horrid wet wet and cold...roll on warmth ...what a waste of an Easter we will have based on latest ECM model
Dont get me wrong was not knocking it, great to see snow falling at this time of the year, let alone laying
It was more an observation of an IMBY winter, i have had many hours of falling snow, but it never has amounted to much, I know other parts of the country have, but believe it or not, this must be the first winter, since i lived in this house (ten years) where i have not struggled to get the car out!
I suppose I favour the situations where we have heavy immense snow for 3 to 4 hours, and everything comes to a stand still
-
We have laying snow, got to about 3cm earlier, and then big melt, it has now been snowing for the last hour yest still have only 2cm on the table i measured earlier
I think the frustrating thing, is all in all, been snowing for nearly 6 hours + today, if conditions were right, would be looking at at least double that
-
Although this has been a good winter, I cannot imagine how much laying snow we would of seen if conditions were perfect!!
Seen many, many hours of falling snow, but not settling
