  1. Terrifying! As more pictures and videos are uploaded, aren’t people on the mainland very pleased they did miss all this? Traumatic, and we feel for the people of the Channel Islands.
  2. Some exceptional photo’s, thank you. That second one looks unreal!
  3. So sorry to see this carnage. Just miserable for all those affected.
  4. The sun came out here about 5 mins ago and it feels like we are in the eye of the storm as the pic suggests.
  5. Been reading that we have more supercomputers than we had in place in ‘87. A little bit concerned however that the wind gusts in the channel islands are forecasted to be 10mph higher than 36 years ago. It’s quite a complex area of low pressure in that there are two shallower lows in the wider system, and this must raise at least a bit of uncertainty to forecasts. All I’m saying is I will be following events and observations very very closely as the mess heads towards here.
  6. I remember hearing a shipping forecast a number of years ago and for particular regions forecasted to have force 12 they issued the words exceptional and phenomenal seas. Wonder on the next bulletin if these words are dusted down and used.
  7. If the school is making their own decision on this seems madness. The order should come from a wider body, probably more in touch with the realism and potential of what might happen here. Something is not joined up.
  8. Thanks MWB. These are for 4am and 6am. If possible do you have the same graphs for 9z and 12z? Thanks
  9. Sorry, I looked at Alex’s face and the word wind next to it!
  10. This is quite a complex system with a couple of smaller shallow lows in the mix causing the main low to pivot more northwards as it passes the Dorset area. As it does, it suggests some very strong winds will come into play for the SE from system’s SE flank. This does not look good at all!
  11. Every run is critical now. It appears just a small movement of 50 miles of the low could have a big impact on certain areas. One small crumb is that we are just coming out of a period of high tides, so there will be coastal flooding and some of it bad by the impact of large waves, but not as severe as it could be. Tell that to affected people however! I hate the wind!
  12. Flash and a rumble here. I see the cell concerned is across the other side of the Thames in Kent. Good to see/hear however!
  13. Is this a tad further west at it’s starting point? If so, it might bring a few more areas into play, perhaps?
  14. Popped out for 15 mins or so and there was a strong seaside smell, smelt like crabs in fact!
  15. I was watching the forecast on GB News this morning. A mention of rain and possible storms this morning, but I sat up when he took a deep breath and mentioned tonight. Can’t quite remember what he said!, But the suggestion was it could be quite notable, severe storms in the east, wind and torrential rain in many parts. Could be something for the weather enthusiast methinks!
  16. Interesting view and output from the Greenland ice cores which hasn’t made msm.
  17. XC weather latest reports 67 mph at the tip of Southern Ireland. An hour ago, 70 mph was recorded. Wonder if this storm is being downplayed a little?
  18. Still too far away and will change of course, but it’s little features like these and suggestion of the energy predicted to keep an eye and would cause disruption in this area.
  19. After seeing how much the electric has cost me over the last month (£460!), very pleased anything less cold than recently is on the charts. This could also be a bit of reverse psychology as well!
  20. The Atlantic shows who’s the boss, even with a Greeny high. When the cold gets in, just means it’s taking liberty’s!
