Model Output Discussion - Autumn arrives

The theme remains hot, but as you say with ‘pushbacks’ gives the opportunity for more ‘interference’ from other features coming into the mix. Again the theme remains hot, but to me the changes are quite significant and quite what we’ll be looking at come the day(s). -

And as each push back materialises, what other features come into the mix and play. MWB mentioned things might have been called early in hindsight, although the way runs are changing anything can’t be ruled out. It still looks hot at some stage, but the outlook looks less certain than it was. -
Perhaps the papers and studies take a while to come out, and you’d like to think those out conducting studies are neutral, but my sceptical mind says with global trillions involved it might depend what the results are!

As you have alluded to there are a fair amount of changes going on, and quite what we will be looking at in 2-4 days. -
During the days following 9/11, in the States scientists were able to conduct tests of the clear skies while jets were grounded and came up with some remarkable results, and against expectations. Especially in built up areas the cleaner air caused a significant temperature rise of 2c. Empty skies after 9/11 set the stage for an unlikely climate change experiment - National | Globalnews.ca GLOBALNEWS.CA Thousands of jets leave contrails over North America every day. They affect climate, but figuring out how was one of the more unlikely legacies of 9/11.

As we clean the air, the earth’s temperature continues to increase. Is this supposed to happen?

Yes as we clean the air, the earth is getting warmer. Is that supposed to happen? -

Like the storms, see if the worst of the heat shifts just over to the east. Here’s hoping! -

This is not looking good. I put earlier about the elderly being at risk, seems many more of us might be. -

Very few will venture out in that. Really hope the charts start down playing this somewhat. -

No, it’s indoors in the kitchen. I remember it failing for a while with the red warning light flashing during the heat of August 2003. Wasn’t the temp then something like 38c. If these temps come off they are well above that. -

With the suggestion of heat of this magnitude, we just aren’t geared up for this. Really hope these extremes don’t come off. I expect freezers won’t cope with this and will be melting down. I fear for the elderly if the charts do comes off as they are now. It will be a major news event. -

Quite a bit of lightning close by. Swore I saw the sky turn green about 5 mins ago and the last time I saw that colour was on American tornado footage. -
I don’t think there is any bias, especially from the BBC haha, but perhaps as well as higher population we are not really used to seeing high winds down here, just like 1c of snow!

Looks like we may have a busy afternoon and evening with people’s accounts as the squall line goes through. The rainfall radar should be quite interesting following it’s progress SE eastwards across the country.

Storm Eunice - 18th February

I had no problems with the red warnings. If it saved one life by them staying in, that’s good enough for me. -

Our toilet’s upstairs, and the water is moving around in the bowel. Thought I’d pass that on! -

The winds are also starting to turn more westerly/north westerly which for some may exacerbate things further. -

But with trees down etc, will they be able to get home?
