  1. Some Cu bubbling to my S now. Also can see the anvils of those continental cells. Little bit frustrating really.
  2. Unfortunately I'm about to head east in the next hour so towards the Maidstone area. Not the right direction at all me thinks lol
  3. Warming up lovely - but not sensing much in the way of humidity
  4. Agreed, signs of Ac development here in Tonbridge too.
  5. Seems as if the next 12-24 hours is going to be a classic case of now casting. Unstable plume of air which if the models are reliable will pop off in a broad swathe. Seems to me that a gnat's fart could trigger a cell anywhere across C/S England and Wales later today/overnight. Kirkwood "humdinging thunderstorms" of usual concern lol. Very clear emphasis on "thunder" from the legendary Carol this morning though, h word aside. Beautifully clearing skies here in Tonbrige at the moment and temperature responding well - currently just shy of 16C. First properly interesting day in ages, yay!!
  6. This storm really was something else. After a baking hot immensely humid day, the 2,500 - 3,000 J/Kg was realised across C/N England. I watched the videos as they came through along with Blitzortung going ape. Alas, the cap held firm down my way so I just sat melting under clear skies.
  7. Had my first rumble of thunder on Thursday with some moderate-heavy rain/hail mix. Tomorrow seems fair for some isolated thunder across S and particular SW UK. Feels like a fairly slow start for storms this year, hardly surprising however given the HP dominance we've seen over the past couple of months. Hoping 2017 will be another good year with lots of potential for all.
  8. I'm going to try to get some shut eye. Could be a night of little sleep if goes to plan so will try and get some in now. Good luck all, stay safe and I hope none of us have to suffer any flooding!
  9. I was wishing for some thunder and lightning, not to be cast as Evan Almighty!
  10. OMFG...I watched this forgetting my UE Boom was connected and scared myself half to death!!! I think that equates to a 'LOL'
  11. That is a bit of a concern to be fair...I hasten to add I too am suspicious about how much lightning there'll be...MUCAPE is modelled in the hundreds rather than thousands and as you say, the atmosphere could get messy. Will be somewhat aggrieved to see not one flash though to be fair. Two strikes near Brighton...not clear if Blitzortung is haywire or initiation is underway.
  12. Ooooooh....MetO saying "thunder likely". Can't say I recall ever reading that before...best I've seen is isolated, scattered or chance of. Yo Dan, surely worth a red on the CWUK forecast map?? I'm getting a bit too excited now and posting a little too frequently - off for a shower to give everyone breath
  13. Doom-mongerers (I accuse no one) can fox-trot right out of it. No model I've seen has noted any outbreaks of heavy rain/thunderstorms until around midnight and beyond (apart from the cells already witnessed this evening). We have seen it so so so many times where people gamble their houses on no action too early only for the atmosphere to erupt. There is of course no guarantee that it will - but we are at least 3 hours before anything ought to be expected to start kicking off anyway. Just thought I'd slip it in now in case anyone is planning on having a premature whinge
  14. St - uh - ning! Worthy of blowing up and mounting on your wall any day of the week. Some of that would be lovely here this evening
  15. Lumpy (vertically shaped) clouds just passing the moon - impossible to make out the type by they are at least low-mid level clouds.
  16. If the sky rocketing humidity around here is anything to by JH I'm hoping the calm before the storm!
  17. Finally I can report some good news - textbook AcCas above my hoose
  18. Light fading now so hopefully any new cells that start popping up will be much more visible.
  19. Skies turning here - nothing convective to note but it is a move away from the virtually crystal clear skies of the past few days. Things are changing - hopefully for the good
  20. That's exactly what I was getting glimpses of on the train - almost (but not quite) has a mothership appearance to it. Beautiful - so glad I've got to see some awesome convection out of this - fingers crossed for later! Who the hell knows what to expect...gorgeous pics btw
