  1. Been looking for a stream around there... looks as though the eye will pass over there.
  2. Also REALLY enjoying watching the Corpus Christi on-location reporter on THe Weather Channel feed. Can you say schadenfreude? Why? Why do they do this to people?
  3. Nice little livestream from Aransas Pass, which should be pretty much in area of landfall. https://youtu.be/SOSDPhXrXgs
  4. I can't believe it's forecast to move over into texas and almost reverse out on the exact same path, dumping everything it has over the texas coast.
  5. Nothing in Coventry so far, but then, I wasn't expecting anything. Bit of a bright flash a moment ago, but I think that was a passing lorry Kent clipper or not, count yourselves lucky down there on the south coast!
  6. Thing with lightning detectors is that they can sometimes be miles off.
  7. Well, nows a good time for a view over Brighton Pier, perhaps... https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/united-kingdom/england/brighton/brighton-pier.html
  8. Of course, that white thing on the NOAA advisory map is a cone of probability. Whatever the black line says, the rack could prove better or worse on either side of it.
  9. Any chance of Fiona catching up with Earl? And if she did, catch up as Earl lifts out, could she actually be thrown further west?
  10. Looking at the wind/track history and at the forecast cone from the NHC, is it me, or are they expecting earl to make a pretty sharp turn now? The history is entirely west, to west-northwest with no sign of a turn, and yet the NHC seem to forecast it going directly Northwest or even north-northwest imminently.
  11. I'm liking these two links for models... the first an oldie, but I'm not sure I've seen the second on here before... http://moe.met.fsu.edu/tcgengifs/ http://moe.met.fsu.edu/~acevans/models/
  12. Possible... anything's possible out in FI... but very unlikely at this point.
  13. So, a TD again... the question is, how well will its core be doing by the time it makes it back out to sea, and how long will it spend there before landfalling again? North Mexico seems increasingly likely... keep watching that ridge
  14. NHC have done just that, and it's now a lovely red colour on the map, at 60%
  15. How much trust is the HWRF worth these days? http://moe.met.fsu.edu/cgi-bin/hwrftc2.cgi?time=2010061418-invest92l&field=Sea+Level+Pressure&hour=Animation
  16. Go on.... place your bets... I'm going for around the 18th-20th June.
  17. That storm passing over south Wales last night was amazing - it literally lasted hours over Llanelli, and the thunder-cracks were worthy of any US storm-chasers movie! Striks ever few seconds too... ... just after the most intense part of the storm I parked my car at the beachfront looking south(ish) over the Gower and west over Pembrey... lots and lots of CG strikes to go with the IC's... and the really mad thing? By about 01:00, there were STILL obvious forks of powerful lightning hitting down to the west in clear view. They were so bright that you could swear they were quite close - but in reality were so far away that you couldn't hear the thunder! Soooo... 5:22 now, and there's a slight orange hue to the sky outside. I know what that is, especially as we don't have air pollution so severe in Llanelli. That's Nitrogen Oxide (after all these hours!). What a night!
  18. That must be the one that passed over Llanelli earlier then, lasting hours (I think about 3 hours!) that seemed to have a brilliant strike every few seconds or so
  19. Appeal to antiquity? It wasn't all that long ago that margerine was considered better for you than butter... Though even at the time they knew what "hydrogenated vegetable oil" was - a trans fat, and had more than a few significant clues that trans fats are very very bad for you.
  20. Yip... that's why radiation can sometimes be measured by the Curie. We know much more now, but it doesn't alter the fact that she's... erm... dead.
  21. MSG is considered to be safe... doesn't mean it's not seriously bad for you though.
  22. lol... it is growing at a funny angle... there are three or four plants, three flower stems flowered, and a fourth is budding, but the wind's had the lot of them - somehow managed to snap two of them from the base... the weather's been fairly rough here (in llanelli). I do hope that first one is clematis.... but, doesn't clematis stay there and start growing where it left off the following year? I didn't think clematis died right back to the ground each year.
