Personally I am enjoying this quiet spell of dry weather, very user friendly!
i was over your neck of the woods @alexisj9 today.
A drive to Folkestone and then train to Dover, a lovely walk back along the England Coast Path and part of the North Downs way, that took us up Western Heights , Shakespeare cliff, to the Battle of Britain Memorial for a welcome cuppa, and a weary trudge through Folkestone back to the car.
Weather wasn’t too bad for you today, a lovely walk along there

Have I ever observed GFS display the sort of consistency required to hold onto an idea for 40 runs? Well, the answer isn't 'yes'.
I think the days/weeks leading to December 2010 were pretty consistent?
The CET that month was -0.7c and the period leading up to it was a steady countdown to cold if I remember rightly
Edit: only one example of yes in a sea of no’s though!

Yes the frost was very thick here too, looked like a thin layer of snow, wish it was but it wasn't.
Same, the car was frozen shut on the driver side this morning. Had to get in the passenger side and climb across to get the blowers on! It was like it’d rained then frozen over.
Odd as it only got to -2.8c so wouldn’t have expected it to be so iced up.
-
I was surprised there was no ice warning too, we had 23mm of rain yesterday and now it’s below freezing everywhere.
In fact, if you go with the rough 1mm rain = 1cm snow it would have been an amazing event yesterday. Oh well, one day it’ll happen again maybe!
Edit: I see there was a warning issued from Kent across to Devon for ice but not until after midnight.

Temp got down to 1.1c with a DP of 0.7c but there are teeny sharp showers just approaching so it’s risen a small amount with the DP back up to 1.0c.
Problem is again, it’s coming from the south/SW. To get snow it just can’t come from that direction here; I need anything from a northerly all the way round to a ESE’ly to get anything here really.

Not great for us on the coast but could be interesting for some of you inland/up high!

EE, not sure you got my drift there.
anyone saying 'thank you' to me i appreciate. however, when it's my wife i expect a little more than just that, especially when the food was pretty perfect
It’s not steak day until 14th March
A nicer day here today, some sun but still really breezy. Nice to have a day of rest from the rain though before tomorrows downpour and gale.
Fingers crossed for next week & some snow. Had nothing at all here last month so been waiting almost 2 years now (all my fault for buying new snow boots Jan 22)
Also, happy birthday @Ed Stone

Interesting where the mild sectors are, Hastings, Eastbourne and Brighton coastal with snowfall.
I knew it probably wouldn’t here but live I eternal hope. Snowing in Ashford just a few miles up the road according to some colleagues who live up that way.

Firmly believe it’s game over for me in canterbury. Pouring with rain. What a let down.
Same. 5.8mm of rain so far

Shows rain here all day from mid-morning and no sign of snow so I expect nothing sadly

Sounds like near the coast it's mostly rain / sleet / graupel? Though have seen on twitter it was snowing at Capel-le-Ferne up on the North Downs / cliffs.
Guess will be similar tomorrow, onshore flow over E Sussex, Kent and Essex and it may be rain near coasts, go 10 miles inland or higher elevation and snow.
A mile inland here and 95ft asl and we had the same weird mix as @alexisj9 (shown in earlier pics)
My sister in law is on the edge of Dover (Temple Ewell) about 2 miles inland and 195ft asl and she has a definite light covering

Looks like Harmonie is following the last aprege run to a degree and looks like it would be good if it went on . I am Having fun chasing this .
I am posting a lot more than normal because I am off work at the moment with a flare from my ulcerative colitis . My current medication is losing its effectiveness , hence the flare .
Got an appointment in just over a weeks time to start meds . Until then I have my hobbies and the world cup to keep me occupied.
Hope you start feeling better soon.
Not so chilly here so far tonight, hovering between 0c and 1c all evening

I think there's actually a hoar frost outside here in Dover, fog about so I think it's freezing fog and hoar frost, rather than what it looks like, not sure it's a thin dusting.
It was the same here in Folkestone this morning, down to -1c and fog horn going. Looked out and was thick frost covering everything.

Looks like another nice day ahead, woken to clear skies and -2c with a frost. Looking around, there’s a fair few -3c to -5c about so a hard frost for some.
As with some posts yesterday, also happy with this if there’s to be no snow. Sunny days and frosty starts are perfect!
