  1. Those showers are very prolific at the moment! A mix of hair and snow with brief accumulations.
  2. Wet flakes mixed in with the rain now
  3. Manchester evening news had a similar article for here for earlier this week. Some friends posted it on facebook filled with dread about the coming snow! Some people have the brain size of a chicken!
  4. Going back to this model you can see how wrong it's got the northern extend of the precipitation! Cumbria was supposed to be dry but they are the ones getting the heavy precipitation. Even at short range models can get it so wrong!
  5. Forget it! Cumbria is getting the heavy stuff.
  6. Rain clearing from here also but only until the second band affects us within the hour. This is the one that gave snow in Ireland but even if it turns to snow it won't last long.
  7. Tropical! Light rain here. I don't like how fast this system is moving.
  8. Is this model quite accurate? Because the band has already reached further north than this model suggests?
  9. And of course this is when you will get it! lol
  10. Snowing nicely there now! I am more hopeful now that we will see some wet snow even at low levels today.
  11. The secondary band is giving the snow which is over Dublin. So I think places north of Manchester have better chance to get that.
  12. I wonder if Winter Hill is high enough to get snow from the approaching band?
  13. Plenty of snow in the central part of Ireland which was not forecasted! It is heading our way but unless you have a bit of elevation...
  14. What's the rush for? It will probably stay warm till November again so plenty of time for your seeds to grow.
  15. The trough has now formed a perfect comma feature over Ireland! The precipitation is likely to be rather heavy! I wonder whether to take a drive to the hills and watch the band come from the west.
  16. I wouldn't call the next few days miserable as for the most part it will be sunny with wintry/snow showers so not grey and dreary.
  17. I think there are no warning because any settling snow will melt quickly as the sun warms the surfaces. We need deeper cold in March for sustained snow cover. Even in January, snow struggled to settle for more than a few hours here so you get the idea.
  18. The band of rain in western Ireland looks quite intense. It should be here by 3pm with some snow on hills and maybe wet snow in the most intense spells further down.
  19. Nea kameni (new burnt land) is slowly growing. This documentary explains the geological history of the ever changing island. It is in Greek unfortunately but it has some subtitles in English. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag18yf9u7e4&feature=youtu.be
  20. Cool! That's one volcano on my list to visit.
  21. Yes, it is a well overdue visit. May in a great month for afternoon thunderstorms in Greece and still not too hot so ideal for a visit.
  22. Should be nice. I am going to Holland at the end of April and then Northern Greece in May.
