  1. The GFS has our region under a widespread frost tonight (temperatures range from 0c to -3c). I don't think so! lol
  2. I hate it when after a sunny day we get cloud in the night which prevents the frost.
  3. Already cloudy here and the temperature above 0c.
  4. I don't want to agree but this pattern is hard to shift and it may well waste the remaining weeks of winter.
  5. Agreed! If it was December or January I would be pleased with the high pressure over us but now the sun is already quite strong. Frosty nights possible but not that cold by day.
  6. Loads of cloud seems to be heading south from Scotland. I expect a less cold night tonight
  7. I'd love to see her presenting in a blizzard with snow on her face like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_fvBDgQNgU
  8. Yes and the northeasterly flow seems to bring a few snow showers on Thursday. Very hit and miss but better than nothing and the ground will be well frozen which is important.
  9. Looking at the radar there is no precipitation anywhere near us.
  10. The Rochdale canal started freezing in parts! Hopefully this will continue in the following nights. The last time this happened was 2013.
  11. From 168hours onwards the 12z ECM is less cold/milder than the 0z as the high is placed further south and west with the Atlantic air riding on top. The 0z had the high over the UK which would allow fog and frost.
  12. Edit:the 12z gfs continues with no precipitation for us.
  13. We need the wind to veer northwesterly at least for a short time to have a chance of some precipitation but none of the models show that.
  14. Yes, brilliant time especially in Fogo. :-) I will get my act together and post some photos shortly. I am so lazy! lol
  15. I am glad you managed to get up to the top. It wasn't possible when I went to Teide because of the wind and snow showers.

    Summit of teide

Nice photos Moki! I could just about see Teide from the plane last Wednesday as it flew to the east of the island. I hope you had a great time.
  17. No precipitation is forecast for our region! This is a dying system and there will be no energy left to it by the time it reaches our region.
  18. The 12Z gfs is dry as a bone for the coming days. Once again Tuesday's trough dissolves before making it here.
  19. Why do people expect this pattern to reload once this cold spell eases? The stratosphere has helped this current northerly with the vortex kept in Siberia but things are changing now and the vortex is moving back to Greenland. We will need the help from the MJO. Any news from that?
  20. Yes, it seems that frosts rather than snow (or any kind of precipitation) will be the focus of the remainder of the cold spell. Tonights showers are mainly for the east of the Pennines and Tuesday's trough won't even reach us. At least the Pennines should keep their snow cover for several days.
  21. Yes, the models today have pushed the trough further west which is not what we want to see.
