  1. According to the radar the precipitation is above me but it is dry.it is moving fast anyway.
  2. The most intense part of it is further south so only light precipitation is likely for us.
  3. I think you are ideally placed today. :-) That's usually the case.
  4. The band is further north than I expected. It is reaching now a critical location - northeast Wales. If it doesn't break up there then Manchester has a chance.
  5. And a poor winter 2015/6 I wonder how that can translate in the troposphere if it verifies.
  6. I guess next winter we will have a westerly QBO like last year...
  7. I am already jealous as I will be under partly cloudy skies.
  8. Cumbria is in a good position for the wintry showers.
  9. I think you have a chance. Manchester will be in the rain/snow shadow as usually happens in the southwesterly flow. At least there are opportunities further down the line. By then I will be 4,000 miles away! lol
  10. It was on Saturday that some people here were posting snow charts for Tuesday and I said it won't happen for us due to the southwesterly element of the wind - Wales eating the showers. And that's what looks like happening.
  11. The most noticeable thing for me currently is the warming in the European sector which lasts for a few days before easing and the vortex restrengthens.
  12. I have seen more posts about what happened so far (or what went wrong) than posting for the near future so I guess people have given up hope.
  13. Well, we got the showers but not the snow despite the cold uppers. It shows how much damage the persistently warm temperatures have done over the last 12 months! The sea is warmer than normal and tips things the wrong side of marginal for snow.
  14. You have more chance than me. I don't think I will get any snow in Fogo! lol
  15. It is certainly piling up on the Scottish hills and will continue to do so. By the way, I thought MBY posts are best for the regional threads.
  16. I think the colder uppers (according to the GFS) will be between midnight and 3am. You should get at least a dusting which will melt tomorrow. Keep the fingers crossed and the expectations low! That's my moto.
  17. Why are you writing in capitals? That was a very different set up with a high pressure cell from southern Greenland slowly sinking. There is no high pressure cell now in any favourable location. No way, the short cold spell in late December was colder than next week will be.
  18. On Tuesday, the mountains of north Wales will eat our precipitation! If anything tonight was always more promising fue to the northwesterly flow.
  19. It will probably downgrade by then! lol
  20. It's quite a downgrade from yesterday's 12z. All an all nothing particularly promising in the models tonight. Just the odd brief slushy event for the lucky few.
