  1. 1/3 of the winter is gone and with the forecasts we are looking well into January now. So there's the half winter.
  2. Thank you Matt, your post summarises perfectly where we are going. A bit depressing to read but it is better to know.
  3. All those showers to the west and southwest of the region are of rain/sleet? Now I am glad they miss I came home at 5am from a night out and there was no frost or ice. It is pathetic when in a cold spell in late December you can't even get a frost! That should hopefully change tonight and tomorrow night.
  4. I guess that was inevitable with the flow starting to come from the Irish sea. The showers tomorrow should also be of rain along the coast and a wintry mix further inland. Good for the Pennines though.
  5. Serves you right for taking your eyes of the models for a few days! lol Disappointing to see all the models agreeing on a sinking high! Snow followed by a frosty high is my favourite weather.
  6. Light rain here now too. The curse of the Irish sea!
  7. Nina on bbc24 latest forecast showed fewer wintry showers for tomorrow than the earliest forecast. She said mainly of rain. Very light snow here, not making any impact.
  8. Such a difference to here. The snow is heavy but melting as it hits the ground.
  9. It doesn't settle here, the city centre is just too warm! Where in Manchester are you?
  10. Good to see Wigan joining the party! That's true, notably further north than all the models went for.
  11. I pray to God that this intensity remains like that for an hour at least!
  12. At long last I can see flakes too! Let's see how heavy it can get.
  13. I can see sleet hitting my window.
  14. That's coming my way according to the radar.
  15. Any reports from the Pennines? It must be turning to snow there.
  16. The areas that are getting the snow are under the deep read precipitation rate on the radar. http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ I am hoping it will reach the Manchester area in the next hour or so. Raining here at the moment with 3c.
  17. That's the 10hpa though not the 30hpa which I was referring to.
  18. If it gets a bit heavier it will turn to wet snow. Look west for that heavier band.
  19. The band is already moving into west midlands and central southern England but it appears to be breaking before reaching northwest England. That's the drying effect of North Wales for us! Our only hope is the more intense line of precipitation from east Ireland to northwest Wales which might just slide to the south of our region. Overall, the band looks weaker than it did a few hours ago so not a good trend.
  20. According to the radar it should be already raining there.
  21. Many gaps have appears over the Irish sea.
