  1. Yes, fingers crossed. The Met Office update remains unchanged with the cold outlook for the remainder of February into March so they are thinking that the SSW should have a good result for us.
  2. @Day 10 it looks great on GFS. The updated euro 4 goes up to 6am on Sunday and here is the chart: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/expertcharts?LANG=en&MENU=0000000000&CONT=ukuk&MODELL=euro4&MODELLTYP=1&BASE=-&VAR=prty&HH=48&ZOOM=0&ARCHIV=0&RES=0&WMO=&PERIOD= It looks quite good to me as shower activity is getting going at that stage but the colder uppers haven't arrived yet. All snow in Northern Ireland where the colder uppers are and some of that activity should be getting to us later in the day.
  3. The difference is that there will be proper shower activity then and uppers of about a degree colder. Also, as it will be Sunday many of us will be able to take a drive to the nearest hill and enjoy proper snow.
  4. So the warning for Sunday is just for the morning hours. I guess they expect the heating from the sun to be enough to cancel any issues with snow for the rest of the day despite the showers keep coming. As it is mid February and the uppers are not spectacular they are probably right.
  5. Yes, it is not cold enough to keep the snow cover all day. At least it looks like on Sunday the showers will be be coming and going all day so more chance to end the day with some snow on the ground.
  6. Saturday night is looking rather windy with gales in places. The Sunday still looking good on the 6z gfs with plenty of shower activity throughout the day. The gfs says the showers will be of snow but I will be more interested to see what the aprege and euro 4 say later.
  7. Yes the wind is too northerly now and by the time it turns more westerly the showers will have fizzled out.
  8. I work in an office and i often hear colleagues talk about a snow warning. I hardly ever hear about other warnings but for snow almost always.
  9. That's right! Sunday will come into view on the euro 4 later so let's see if it will be a bit more interested on that event.
  10. Last night's national forecast for Sunday said snow showers. I can't see what changed overnight.
  11. I couldn't agree more! The public will stop taking notice when there is a warning every other day for nothing.
  12. Another pointless snow warning! I just woke up t wet surfaces. Will have to wait for Sunday now and hope for the best.
  13. No thanks, thankfully the stratospheric warming will give us an interesting first half to spring.
  14. I think any settling snow will melt by lunchtime as there will be plenty of sunny spells in between the showers. The sun now has quite a bit of strength and besides the showers will get few and far between in the afternoon.
  15. Yes, let's focus on tomorrow. The good news is that the trough that will affect us is already showing on the satellite. It is good to know that it has already formed. https://en.sat24.com/en/gb/infraPolair
  16. Well of course, you must have a better memory than the rest of us.
  17. Yes they always take the worst case (or for coldies best case) scenario.
  18. It was snow and ice. Anyway, tomorrow is not going to be colder than Tuesday that's for sure but on the other hand the precipitation will be quite a bit heavier so who knows maybe a brief covering of slush on low ground.
  19. So why did we have a warning covering our region? I also remember a post about the Manchester airport meeting saying there was a possibility for 2-3 cms.
  20. It shows some snow accumulation on the hills. I find the met office warnings over the top. Look at last Tuesday as the most recent example.
  21. Because there isn't any! haha If you notice the sequence the euro 4 has a line of snow showers tomorrow afternoon (Cheshire gap) but I guess there won't be any settling then due to the sun heating the surfaces by then. I think Sunday is looking more promising even for the low ground but I will take any falling snow tomorrow as a nice surprise.
  22. I love Berlin! Besides, it will probably be colder and wintrier there. I went January last year when they had -5c maximum temperature with snow on the ground. The temperature in Manchester was +8c with drizzle.
