  1. Yes, better places heights in the northeast and lower pressure over Italy.
  2. The Met Office is still going for colder weather from next week.
  3. Another difference is that they added the northwest in the areas with milder weather, yesterday it was just the west. This indicates Atlantic activity between Scotland and Iceland which is not very good for a full blown easterly. So i see some slow backtracks in the met office update. It could have been a lot worse though so let's see what the 12z's will bring.
  4. The euro 4 is just showing a weakening band of rain making it here by 6am with very little snow on the peaks of the Pennines. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/expertcharts?LANG=en&MENU=0000000000&CONT=ukuk&MODELL=euro4&MODELLTYP=1&BASE=-&VAR=prty&HH=24&ARCHIV=0&PANEL=0&ZOOM=0&PERIOD= On the plus side, we may get another frost tonight and then maybe again tomorrow night so the weekend not looking particularly mild.
  5. Boring, boring, bored. Why can't we get a crazy easterly with -12 uppers? Preferably to last a whole week and then followed by northerlies, northwesterlies and northeasterlies till just after Easter. Then I can retire my weather interest till late October when the next interesting season appears on the horizon...
  6. The 6z GFS looks quite blocked to me but it still does everything possible to avoid bringing the cold to us.
  7. The updated ICON is not in a hurry to bring an easterly. Just slack high pressure on top of us. The 0z was much more favourable at this stage. https://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/icone_cartes.php?&ech=180&mode=0&map=0&archive=0
  8. It is one sunspot and the solar flux is around 78. Hardly anything ground breaking. If there were a handful of spots I would be concerned.
  9. Just steady rain here. I wonder if it will turn at least briefly.
  10. Yes and also strong wind which will make it unpleasant.
  11. I'd be surprised if it is now snowing there now. But you will need to take your dog for a walk early tomorrow as it won't be a pleasant day.
  12. Rain has picked up now. It was drizzly until 5 minutes ago
  13. Good to see that people close to the coast are reporting some wintriness. This is the final part of the rain band that is getting caught up by the cold upper air. However, the band seems to be weakening as it travels eastwards.
  14. The ECM easterly is really juicy and if it is then followed by an Arctic northerly I will be happy.
  15. Much more amplified afternoon models - a colder outlook!
  16. I am pleased to see the change of output from the ICON. Hopefully the ECM will follow later. I am also pleased that people here have started to consider this model. A few months ago I was getting laughed at for posting about the ICON charts.
  17. Even if there is some back edge snow tomorrow, it will happen in the middle or the day or early afternoon so that's the worst possible time for settling. The euro 4 is not interested anyway.
  18. Ok i see what you mean. Yes, I think it is more likely to feel the effects in March. Pity it couldn't happen a few weeks earlier. Mind you, although disappointing in terms of deep cold and snow events, I think that this winter hasn't turned out as mild as the long range models were suggesting.
