  1. I moved to the extreme NW of Dundee earlier this year. There's no snow in town, no snow at work (Fintry) but a different world up here.
  2. Everywhere is white again, good heavy shower. Looks like more on the way and showers piling into Edinburgh too soon by the looks of things.
  3. The ECM, UKMO and GFS all keep us under an Easterly influence at +144 hours.
  4. Hmmmm. Am I the only one on the thread wanting the cold to lock in for the rest of the year?
  5. Further north to my eye @ 48 hrs. Just look at the temperature charts for the UKMO and ECM at that time.
  6. That looks slightly modified to me and it is not a carbon copy of the UKMO +120 hrs chart.
  7. Agreed @ Lomondsnowstorm. This winter, for my own area, I have found the warning system quite poor to say the least.
  8. Well, only last month when many of us had a big breakdown snow event, Dundee and parts of Fife weren't included in the yellow warning area from the Met Office beforehand. Dundee ended up with 10-12 cms of snow that day...
  9. WOW!!! Incredible ECM charts at +168 hours....
  10. I was outside when that came on, cars were basically at a standstill and so was I- I couldn't walk forward because of the wind and snow. Don't recall ever seeing such poor visibility like that before in a snow shower.
  11. The 12z ECM ensemble means have most of Scotland under the -5c isotherm for the entirety of the run! Spring you say?
  12. Check out how well the ECM has been verifying at +120 hrs this past 7 days... http://www.emc.ncep..../html/acz5.html
  13. Well, it is the model discussion thread, so yes, it is quite ok to post charts at +300 hrs.
  14. OK, I don't know why you're being so bullish with regards to the ECM climbing down, but if it doesn't then you've set yourself up for a fall.
  15. So you said earlier that you "fully expected an ECM climbdown tonight". Can you do this tomorrow evening too so we can all get super-excited?
  16. Best snow we've had here since the famous late Nov/early Dec 2010 spell. Heavy snow today and this has probably been the best 'breakdown' spell in my time living in Dundee - 13 years. There's approximately 8-9 inches lying in gardens, not all of it came from the breakdown but some of this came from the heavy snow showers on Wednesday. In the city centre there's much less and it's amazing the difference a 20 minute walk north of the city centre produces at an elevation of 100 metres. The pic of the snow up to my shin was taken in a public park. All in all, a great day and even got away from work early! Some pics.
  17. Getting a bit lighter now, but still a good 15 minute spell of quite heavy snow
  18. Looks like there's a heavy snow shower about to hit Dundee judging by the radar. Looks beefy!
  19. I notice the 18z GFS has a lot more PPN for Friday than was shown on the 12z run. Some places will see a big dumping of snow.
  20. Best day of the cold spell so far here... Some heavy snow showers today in a slack Easterly flow. Just had a heavy shower which lasted 20-25 mins. Roads are pavements and white and there's a good depth in the gardens.
  21. I notice the Dundee Riverside reading shows sleet a lot of the day but Dundee FC location shows snow all day.
  22. I'd be surprised if you didn't receive a decent fall of snow tomorrow.
  23. Latest BBC forecast with Alex Deakin looked good, he stated that there would be "a lot of snow, even at low levels in Eastern Scotland".
