  1. A long way out at 180 things would be looking very good if that short wave just north of scotland bugger off, and we arrived here because of small correction in the early timeframe! Still a lot to play for.
  2. For someone who likes extreme weather I feel I could burst with excitement at the moment Thank you for all the updates, you're a credit to this site.
  3. Sorry to pick you up on your post but, can't we just be happy with the charts on offer? especially when we know That the small details will change from run to run. We see the same thing every winter and if I had my choice I'd rather have room for temperatures To cool than have -10 uppers programed from T200 only to see them reduced as we get within a reliable timeframe.
  4. Nice end to that run, and goes to show how Europe can cool very fast under the right pattern, long way out though!
  5. thanks for your fast and detailed reply.Yes I meant tropical stratosphere, and my post was focusing mostly on the stratospheric vortex which didn't quite make clear enough.
  6. Hi all I have a couple of questions for the more knowledgeable people on here, and hope someone would be kind enough to answer them. First, I know that the stratosphere has a large effect on the the troposphere but can it work in the other direction? With all this blocking up north at the moment I assume that there is a large easterly component to the atmosphere, and if so is it be possible for an easterly loaded troposphere to slow a cooling westerly stratosphere? and my 2nd question is what is the current temperature of the stratosphere around the mid latitudes? The reason i ask is because i remember a few posts from the end of September stating that the temperature of the stat around the mid latitudes was below normal. if this is still the case would that give us some sort of a buffer with regard the the temperature differential between the arctic and the equator and with that, the stat not behave as one would expect. Hope that all made sense . I just think that some people have jumped on the recant cooling of the stat and think that its a one way street to raging westerly's, when we all know that its not that simple!
  7. It wasn't as far as I remember, we had snow falling for over 24 hours in Blackpool, the most snow I have ever seen but not a lot of wind.
  8. what a load of tosh! the track record for the last 30 years of model predictions has been poor if you ask me, and then they make a claim that we wont be able to test for the next 30 years or so, it does my nut in I tell ya
  9. Sat in the car facing out to sea here on the south coast, heavy rain here and that's it. I can confirm lightning to the north of me, but it doesn't look like amounting to much I'm afraid Fingers crossed for later.
  10. Hi I shot it using my galaxy nexus phone, it has time lapse as part of Android 4.0 perfect for days like this
  11. Hi all What an amazing day, finished work at 5 and what do i find ? a wonderful little thunderstorm here is a time lapse of the sky outside my window. hope you all like it
  12. Just started to snow again and I think its about to set in for the night from the look of the radar, but will it settle? its quite wet on the pavements / roads
  13. It can't be far off you now, and if it misses you i still think the south coast is in for an interesting night! It just starting to settle now
  14. I've seen a couple of flakes here in Christchurch but that's about it, Keeping my fingers crossed for later as some people in Cardiff have snow when they where forecast rain.
  15. this precip has some leggs on it and the echos east of sunderland are looking beefy. a lot of people are going to wake up to a nice surprise come morning
  16. congtatulations and knowing that its not going to melt for some time must make it even better
  17. good luck to you all tonight , lost count of the amount of posts in the model thread over the last few days saying that the pressure would be to high for any convection lol
  18. Mostly rain here in Christchurch but with the odd flake here and there Temp 2 Dp 1
  19. I know, everyone was talking about it but i couldn't see it here
  20. DING DONG :w00t: What can you say about that! if this comes off anywhere near whats being shown then i will be a very happy bunny. Gp's winter forecast is looking almost spot on Still long way off chaps but from small acorns. TM24
  21. Hi Greybing To be honest i Don't know, It's just that you don't often see these kind of shapes in nature IE the almost perfect summitry and strait lines, they look like they have been designed on a computer if you know what i mean. there are probably countless other examples of the same shapes throughout the whole of the natural world.
