  1. Yes I can see the runway from my 7th Floor perch and there have been no flights in or out, still snowing moderately here as well! Looks to be about 6 or 7 cm now, second biggest fall this winter after last weeks fall! They won't start to clear the airport until the snow stops, so not for another couple of hours at least looking at the radar.
  2. A 10 minute car journey has taken me 45 min to get to work, from Ifield to Crawley! This is due to the 3 inches of snow that we have here on top of the 4 or 5 inches that we still had! Seen cars abandoned and sliding all over the place! Roads haven't been gritted, even on the bus routes! And it's still snowing, certainly is one last hurrah before the midler air comes in....but for how long! haha!
  3. Oooo I wonder if we are just about in the zone to get something and if so then we might be far enough in land to stay as snow! One last hurrah!
  4. Mixture of small and large flakes, changing between light and moderate
  5. Well I didn't get obsessed with the forecasts last night so I'm not disappointed with the non-event. Obviously it was a developing situation which was a nightmare to forecast, these things happen so get over it! No point moaning about it, there's another thread for that! Anyway we've had light snow showers all morning and still going on, not settling as temp above freezing so gradual thaw in process. Nice to see however, espescially if it does warm up as the week goes on! And if the stats are correct (i.e early cold winter tends to finish mid Jan and then warms up for remainder of winter), this will be the last cold spell of the winter, so make the most of it if you can!
  6. Been snowing lightly/moderately with smallish flakes for about an hour!
  7. We had a dusting overnight, plus a couple of light flurries a while ago. Clear blue sky now, looking forward to later on this pm for further snow!
  8. Nice one! And now it's stopped! haha! Well at least that means it's snowed everyday since Tuesday! Looks like we might get some more later on tonight as we're on the Surrey border, so hopefully might see something from the streamer, and then obviously there is the weekend....
  9. That shower on Raintoday has now reached here, snowing lightly at the moment, but with reasonably big flakes!
  10. Amazing scenes here in Crawley! At least 6 inches here and still snowing!
  11. Here in Crawley West Sussex it's been snowing since 8.15ish, started out a little bit icy but soon turned to full on snowflakes, we now have over an inch lying on everything! And still snowing moderately.
  12. Snowing moderatley here, with a hint of ice in the flakes, settling easily!
  13. Thats an awesome forecast for us Paul! Can't wait for Tuesday! haha! We've got a light dusting here, totally unexpected!
  14. Started off as rain earlier...but now heavy snow!! Should imagine it's wet snow, possibly caused by evaporative cooling...
  15. Had a dusting overnight, must have been a mixture of sleet and snow as when taking it off the car, it was basically ice, very crunchy! Expecting all snow to be gone by morning due to the rain. Oh well it's the longest we've had lying snow since the mid 90's!
  16. Just had another snow shower, moderate at times. Now at work I can see that Gatwick is still at a standstill!
  17. looks like we have about 4-5 inches here! Very nice! No more snow falling yet, might see some more later! EDIT: I spoke too soon! Just started snowing again
  18. Hi Mate, I'm thinking we'll get some, maybe at best 2 or 3 inches over Thursday night through to Friday morning, so it might be worth taking the day off and take your little'un up to the North Downs, especially the further east you go!
  19. Saw the forecast at 9pm with Rob and I was surprised to hear him say that the band of snow over the South East will last all day! I think this was in a line from Essex through Kent and East Sussex. Should be some big totals where that band stalls!
  20. I wouldn't worry about the UKMO, that 144z chart hasn't been consistent form run to run, so let's wait and see what the ECM thinks and also the tomorrow's UKMO before worrying about it! Hell I'm just going to enjoy seeing snow falling in the next few days! Never mind about what's going to happen later on next week!
  21. I think it might be in connection to the fact that El Nino is forecast to become strong now, with the effects hitting us about mid Jan? Hopefully it won't be fully east based although isn't more blocking possible with a typical El Nino signal?
