  1. Sugar dusting here this morning and very icy. Looks good for tomorrow and with the front arriving at the coldest part of the day and slightly slower no longer 3/4am but 4/5am West 5/6am East. If it’s moving slower or potentially struggling against the cold air it could mean that the front is stalling further West which isn’t a bad thing for us in terms of a wrap around and more accumilation.
  2. Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but reading that chart, is it not for next Wednesday rather than Sunday??
  3. That's not strictly true, uppers and dewpoints look good, there are so many factors in determining snow. I think we serve a very good chance over the weekend. It has snowed heavily here with temperatures above 3 degrees in the past and has poured down with rain with temperatures of -2. That's the beauty of the weather and the atmosphere.
  4. North? It has been snowing here and heavy wet snow now as well, not settling though but the temperature difference between 6pm and now is huge, dropped from 8.5 to 1.2! Could be a few surprises in the morning now.
  5. I don't want to go on and on, so this is the last I will say of it but I am really disappointed with the METO warning system once again. Roads closed the length and breadth of Wales, homes flooded, bridges damaged, fields under water and the forecast and radar showed this would happened, if anything more rain has actually fallen than first anticipated. The metoffice updated warnings earlier, with given new data and still failed to issue an amber. Institutional Negligence!
  6. We have heavy driving sleet and wet snow now here, this could be a surprise, mind you, with all the surface water, snow won't stick to puddles or newly formed rivers around the garden and roads!
  7. The weather is appalling here, had nearly 140mm of rain. Where else in the Uk has only a yellow warning for so much rainfall in such a short space of time, and more to come, beggars beyond belief. And now the temperature is dropping like a stone and I see sleet is very close, within a few miles on the radar, if it does indeed change to snow early, we could have a pasting, so much precipitation still left to come. Wild weather.
  8. Snow melt is also a problem for high ground in Wales especially North Wales and river levels were also above average ranges here before this LP moved in. Flooding problems increasing across Wales as we speak. This is not a we need an amber warning they don’t argument. The proof is in the pudding and time and time again the METO have underplayed significant weather events in Wales resulting in a lack of multi agency planning to combat and prepare for flooding problems. Storm Dennis was a prime example, Cara as well, they know Wales topography increases our rainfall substantially, yet seem to undermine rainfall impacts every time. This is costing millions to business and properties in Wales year on year and a lot is down to lavk of multi agency mitigation and planning. The matrices are misleading at best and poor. The Irish Met warning system is far better. There needs to be a review into the Meto warning system, it’sn just not fit for purpose.
  9. Y sefyllfa bore ma! Here’s the situation this morning! 94mm and counting here since yesterday!
  10. Here’s the situation in Wales this morning, things have certainly got worse! As you can see almost all catchment areas in Wales have alerts and with river levels rising the warnings are increasing too! A lot of rain has fallen here since yesterday, 94mm here!
  11. You are correct Chionomaniac. It’s NRW who have responsibility in Wales and of course they collaborate with border catchment areas as well, it really isn’t difficult to understand! What does need to be emphasised again is the absolute and sheer negligence of the METO that there is no all-Wales amber warning at the moment! The Met repeatedly underplays extreme weather in Wales when it comes to warnings and this affects authorities' response and their ability to deal with any problems! We need a lot better!
  12. Dyma sefyllfa llifogydd ar hyn o bryd: Ga’i bwysleisio eto mae’n hollol, hollol warthus a chywilyddus nad oes rhybudd oren Gymru gyfan ar hyn bryd! Mae’r Met sawl tro yn anwybyddu Cymru pan ddaw at rybuddion ac mae hyn yn effeithio ar ymateb awdurdodau a’u gallu i ddelio ag unrhyw broblemau! Mae angen lot gwell! This is the current situation in terms of flooding: Can it be emphasised again it is absolutely, absolutely disgraceful and shameful that there is no all-Wales amber warning at the moment! The Met repeatedly ignores Wales when it comes to warnings and this affects authorities' response and their ability to deal with any problems! We need a lot better!
  13. No need to apologise Thanks for updating this thread it’s really helpful
  14. I fail to understand your nationalistic comment, it’s just simply two different legal administrations with powers over different watercourses. Here’s the warning for Llangollen: Sorry now I realise they are in Welsh, that’s my default browser language
  15. But that doesn’t support what you said as it talks of the catchment in England and lists places only in England.
  16. Are you sure re rivers covered by the ea? I am not aware of this and have seen flood alerts for the Dee, Severn and Wye on our Welsh site?? Where did you learn that?
  17. Orange means flood alert and shows the river catchment areas of those under a flood alert. That’s why there’s a lack of rivers appearing in NE Wales as there aren’t currently any flood alerts
  18. Here’s the situation in Wales at the moment.
  19. Look at what's happening overnight into tomorrow, the low filling in over Wales pretty static and continuous rain, most models showing excess of 200ml over north wales and between 60-80mm for North England and the midlands. There is a huge difference between the two. If I lived in the Conwy valley now, Llanrwst itself I would be particularly concerned.
  20. I must admit I’m getting really ****** off and frustrated with how much ‘Northern England and the Midlands’ is being mentioned for threat of rain and flooding when it’s blatantly obvious that Wales will bare the brunt of the rainfall and see huge flooding problems. Never have I felt Wales’ irrelevance more apparent on this forum and by the MET than this year! It’s an absolute disgrace! Going to buy a dinghey and listen to the Treorchy Male Voice Choir to cheer me up!
  21. Bring on the Spring I say, fed up of the exhaustion looking for cold, when it is hell bent on not arriving properly at least after so much promise If this pattern is maintained into March, this will go down as the best winter that never was synoptically!
  22. You certainly can. Most northerlies by default are largely dry with HP sitting close to the UK with wishbone snow showers. Unless you have embedded cold from a Northerly with a LP running down or bumping into, they are mostly dry affairs. NWstly however are far higher risk and more uncertain but can deliver wintry conditions country wide. It’s simple ridiculous to call the 15 dayer a downgrade based purely on that!
