  1. Still have about 6 inches laying with deeper drifts. Plenty of further snow chances over the next week.
  2. No real breakthrough on the 6z. Subtle Greenland heights with sliders and big snowfalls. Marvellous stuff.
  3. The Cairnshill Road turn off into Four Winds. Cars abandoned on either side of the hill causing trouble for other drivers causing a six mile tail back into Belfast. Are your lights flicking on and off.?
  4. Just home after 6 mile walk. Gridlock. Drivers the Problem, just abandoning there cars where ever. Blizzard conditions continue.
  5. I would take those graphics with a large pinch of salt. Watch the radars instead. Streamers kicking off in the Irish Sea.
  6. Whiteout conditions in Carryduff, moderate snow starting to lay on all surfaces. I'm 6 miles south of Belfast at city centre at 420 feet in the Castlereagh Hills. Looking at the weather radar shows heavier stuff starting to push in off the Irish Sea. I'm off to Belfast in 1/2 hour for a work dinner and drinks. Will I get home that's the question.
  7. How is the Radar looking? Im at work and can only access The Met Office radar which is stuck at 9.30. Useless.
  8. Sorry to hear about your Dad Pom, will raise a glass of guid Scotch whisky to him tonight.
  9. The precipitation should increase through the morning as the cold south easterlies move over the Irish Sea increasing convection. These are called streamers or lake affect snow.
  10. Got me confused guys, the front is across the border and coming on strong. Sleet already in Carryduff.
  11. ECM has southerly Atlantic winds into Ireland but not for another 8 days, and even then it might slide underneath.
  12. I too am surprised by the lack of Greenland heights. The MJO is in a high amplitude phase 7, creeping towards Phase 8 which supports a Greenland block. Perhaps GP will update later.
  13. Remember it is expected to start as rain, gradually turning to snow through the day The rain band Is much slower than forecast even last night
  14. Fantastic forecast there on the Beeb. " Particularly heavy snow for Eastern Northern Ireland" Oh Yeh.
  15. It will vary wildy across Ulster though from nothing on some coastal areas to bucket loads over the hills. Dont panic.
