Chance of 60mph gusts again for a time briefly on Saturday. To have a chance of that twice in 1 week is certainly pretty rare. This time it will be from the north/north west so could do some damage to those usually sheltered from our predominant westerlies!
Mind you, 63m and 125m ASL between you is not a huge difference though! Every bit of height makes a bit of difference though I wouldnt call 125m high up (thought not saying you mean that! ). Im 120m ASL and it usually isnt enough in most marginal set ups.
Some light snowfall running down the western/central slice of the country again on Saturday night on the GFS 18z which had gone walkies on the 12z. Thus this clearly needs further model runs to firm up on details although if we see this event transpire into reality, the favoured areas for this currently seem Central Scotland, NW England/Pennines and down into the Midlands (Mainly Central parts) and perhaps CS England but possibly losing intensity by then.
Attached are the latest GFS charts from the 18z.
Certainly nothing too disruptive, especially as it weakens travelling south. Minimal impacts on a saturday night/sunday morning anyway for most.
The West Midlands and south west definitely one of the worst places for snow this weekend. Can't see it happening. Sliding just to our east about Coventry/rugby I suspect.
Final nail in the coffin for snow this weekend IMO. All snow and shower symbols gone from the meto forecasts now for here. Not the most trustworthy I know but all other models show just a few coastal flurries. Hate cold that brings no reward for it. Will enjoy the sun but will feel uncomfortably cold with no reward. Typical set up these days I'm afraid.
The drier air intrusion associated with these strong winds is certainly noticeable on XC weather with dewpoints much lower than earlier. Around 5-8c across much of the SW portion of the country now (esp Wales and Midlands). So despite it still being fairly mild actual temperature wise, it does feel rather fresh now.
Quite a bit going on in the W Mids tonight. Lorry overturned near Bromsgrove on the M5 and the huge Fort Dunlop shopping centre sign has toppled over amongst other incidents. http://www.expressan...r-the-midlands/

Definitely much quieter here now. Bins over, garden chairs overturned and next door's jacuzzi/pool roof cover seems to have gone walkies. All in all a pretty stormy evening! Nearly 16,000 properties without power in our region tonight though (W Mids). Mostly rural areas but pretty significant for this region.
Next door's Jacuzzi/pool cover seems to have gone walkies somewhere in this wind. Garden chars upside down and some bins blown over here. Will be interesting to walk the dog in the woodlands nearby tomorrow and assess how the trees and branches have fared there.
Where are you?
So the naming of storms should be based on how severe it gets in Upminster, Essex only?
~15,000 properties are out of power across the West Midlands Region tonight, plenty in Wales too. Lots going on with reports of fallen trees. Sounds pretty stormy to me!
Blimey, 1029 out of power around Hagley DY9, DY10 and DY11 Kidderminster. Also another 680 in Bewdley DY12 according to WPD maps. http://www.westernpower.co.uk/Power-outages/Power-cuts-in-your-area/Power-Cut-Map.aspx
13573 properties currently have no power in the West Midlands alone! http://www.westernpo...er-Cut-Map.aspx

No posts all of a sudden for 20 minutes. Has everyone just had a power cut? Lol.
Some fairly strong gusts here. Not a constant strong wind by any means but still about another hour until the peak.
Something may pop through the Cheshire Gap for a brief time but they rarely reach down here.
Anyway, the wind is certainly ramping up somewhat here. Should continue to slowly increase further for about 1 more hour. Seems to be quite a few properties affected by power cuts in Kinver through to parts of DY10 Kidderminster.
Power Cut map for us in the South West portion of the country (West Midlands region, South Wales, Devon, Cornwall, Bristol/Somerset). http://www.westernpo...er-Cut-Map.aspx
Edit: Wind picking up here quite a bit now too.
