  1. 1305, A drought affected Many parts including Worcestershire, accompanied by such burning heat that cattle died of thirst and heat exhaustion. The winter turned bitterly cold with frosts and blizzards from December 15th to January 25th. High winds whipped the snow up to 20 feet in some rural areas and another intense cold spell from February 13th to April 13th. 1308- 1330, This period stands out in history for the generally very high price of wheat, caused by succession of wet of wet or indifferent seasons and bad harvests. Incessant rains and cold winters caused havoc within the faring community, forced to watch crops fail and cattle die because of the severity of the disastrous extreme weather. 1343-1345, Widespread and frequent droughts accompanied summer heatwaves and strong hot winds, .Corn was usually scarce, streams dried up, and rivers were at very low levels with cracks to five inches wide on the River beds on the Avon, Severn, Wye and Teme, by 1344. 1351-1370, A Calamitous time for everything and everyone. Had the population not been so decimated by the Black Death in 1349 ,distress in the area would have been as great as during the period 1310 to 1321. 1361-1362, Droughts through the whole of 1361 saw crops fail all across the three counties and beyond, which brought famine to the area. On January 8th 1362, a Tornado levelled high houses ,Church Towers and trees.
  2. Yes days rapidly drawing in now , this time of year daylight equal to first half of April. I know when we get to September 11th the daylight is equal to my birthday on March 31st...
  3. Chasing clouds is about as exciting as it gets this coming week, although I will take this upcoming weather allbeit rather boring over inseccant rain ,wind , and heat! Definately going to feel like we are moving with the calender this week out of summer and into early Autumn☺
  4. July saw below average Artic temperatures throughout, both Artic and Antartica sea ice well above normal and the Greenland surface mass balance is well above normal☺
  5. Yet again it looks slim pickings for Late summer lovers again from the 12z. Okay perhaps a brief ridge building by Tuesday, but then...take your pick, of course nothing reliable at that range but it does give an indication that nothing settled for very long....
  6. Interesting to note that the high temperatures of the USA nearly 100 years ago have been steadily declining since the 1920s/30s ......
  7. Indeed, sadly some of the so called big boys including NOAA Met office etc are as a Fact hiding data from the past to run there agenda on global warming. On August 13th 1966 a town in North Eastern Spain reached a dizzy height of 55c/ 131f. So again the media are telling the public lies.
  8. It really makes me smile on here as the people seeking heat will jump from one model to another just to satisfy there craving for hot settled weather. In fairness any heat or settled conditions is always day nine/ ten and there it stays at that time frame. Bit like searching for the illusive gold at the end of the rainbow
  9. Lols he really looks as though he believes that computer forecast !! Two eggs on my face Please Sir Seriously the Ecm output is nonsense at the moment, Gfs looks like it's running ahead as regards better reliability. ...
  10. Worcestershire Sauce of Course From a local book I've had for years and the Likes of the Worcester Evening News and Reed Midland Newspapers and the Hereford Times etc contributed to the books info...☺
  11. Spot the difference from the gfs output from now to this time next week, !!!
  12. The "AMOC" Atantric Meridional Overturning Circulation, does indeed fluctuate with strength over the centuries. It's switched off many times before since Planet Earth has been here. The Appocaliptic film the day after tomorrow shows an example of the AMOC shutting down but would be impossible for such a quick change as depicted in the film but that's Hollywood !
  13. 1200, Severe cold set in during the Autumn with Snow lasting from January to March. Many people died of frostbite and thousands of birds froze to death. March saw a big thaw with vast areas of farmland under water. 1210, An Artic like frost set in from new years eve to St Valentines day. The intense frost froze all rivers to a great depth. Frost fairs were held on the River Severn and River Wye along with pig roasts and horses rode on the River Severn between Worcester and Gloucester. 1236, Monsoon like rains fell through January, February and early March. Many Livestock were drowned. Then a dramatic turn around in Weather from late March until August , a Prolonged drought set in and even though it was an extremely wet Winter river levels fell very low on the Rivers Teme and Avon. 1246, A sudden severe frost arose after a dry March . This frost damaged much of the fruit crops. 1247, The Spring had a dramatic cold spell. Late snow storms brought many feet of snow drifts. A small Tornado was reported to have lifted up Fowl pens and dumped them a mile away ,stripping the hens of their feathers . Sudden thaws brought flooding. 1252, A severe drought caused crops to fail and water became so scarce that people were moving away to find water. 1253, The extreme drought conditions the previous year had not relinquished and the Spring and Summer of this year if anything was even worse with rivers brought just to a trickle and streams and ponds completely drying up from months of hot relentless sunshine. Livestock suffered severely. During the Autumn flash flooding occurred with massive thunderstorms. 1255,Another great drought struck the area . High winds at times whipped up the drought stricken soil and the air was often filled with dust. Dust devils were common place one reported to be at least 700 feet high snapping off branches as it passed trees. 1258, Torrential rain fell on the area during late Spring early Summer along with Hurricane force winds. Many areas were devastated. Flooding became a problem again. 1287, At last a few years with good harvests with an equal amount of rain and sunshine which brought the price of wheat down lower than anytime between 1260 and 1400.
  14. Filmed this while I was outside working today. Caught some rotation on the edge of this storm so quickly got my camera out and filmed it . Was hoping for a funnel to form but..... 20210802_212511.mp4
  15. Definitely noticeable now getting dark by nine pm and now we are into August it's gonna turn in very quickly and into September before slowly moderating speed in October and November
  16. 1105 ,flooding rains brought freak floods to many parts of England in January and late frosts in May damaged much of the fruit harvest.Early snow arrived in October. 1110 ,sudden cold came in from the East and lasted the whole Spring. 1111, A long Bitter cold Winter which lasted from November to March. 1125, Stormy winds heavy snowfall and heavy rain brought frequent flooding. 1126, Extreme high temperatures over 100 f in Worcestershire resulting in the ground opening up as much as 3ft in mid summer. 1137, An extremely wet year with frequent flooding and landslides throughout the year. 1178, Hard winter conditions and a lack of food.North winds were were prominent that winter. 1190, Another very wet year so much so that disease spread among birds and animals and crops failed along with the harvest. 1196,Famine again with long periods of heat and drought and then flooding rains. Many grassland fires happen on this year.
  17. Indeed I think some people have nothing better to do than just make random comments about the upcoming weather. Yes this is the model output discussion and literally know one knows how things will pan out to give us a quick return to Summer. Yes a very volItile situation coming up next week one to watch....
  18. Looks as though gfs has blown another shortwave low for Tuesday let's see if it's there on the 12z......
  19. At the Center of the small Low at the moment 14c/57f as it trundles eastwards . Lots of rain so far nearing an inch and more to come as the bands around the low spin towards us, looks quite pretty on the Radar not so pretty at ground level
  20. Naming low pressure systems in this country is fairly new so yes in previous years we have had the same sort of weather systems but did not give them a name but of course that's thanks to the Americans because everything they event or do sooner or later comes our way !
  21. Looking at the video it looks as though a lot of the housing estates over there are virtually new, so just like over here build on flood plains show people some new houses and the property developer walks far away from the development rubbing his hands with millions opting not to buy a place nearby as he knows what other people are ignorant too....
  22. It's a little bit too early to right summer off, it's like writing late January off into February before we even get there.! Granted model output is not that great but there's still time for it to change ,we have still got over 4 weeks of meterological summer left, but got to admit I'm looking forward to some cooler fresher conditions
  23. Looking at the long term trend slim picking for Summer lovers ,in fact if your camping out in northern UK especially Scotland Jack Frost could may make an early appearance as early as this coming weekend, although generally unsettled it looks as though most of the rainfall in the next ten will be showers rather than frontal rain...
  24. It's a case of anyone wanting a return to summer conditions very quickly better look away, this week's hot spell will seem a distant memory, turning cooler than average as well, anyway looking forward to the thundery breakdown overnight .....
