  1. Oh just seen the Nae :o an upgrade for these parts just about in the darkest pink blob. 10cm Possible
  2. Suddenly gone very foggy outside as well. Temp risen slightly to -3.2c
  3. -3.5c here with cloudy skies, had a low of -5.1c before it clouded over. Fingers crossed for some snow today
  4. Light to moderate snow at times here in Reading for the last 15 minutes or so got a nice dusting on the ground Current temp 0.4c Looking at the radar this snow isn't really going anywhere so an added bonus on top of tomorrow
  5. Not sure which regional thread i would be best posting in now so sorry if in the wrong one. Got some light snow flurries here in Reading at the moment currently -2c
  6. -11c for Central and into southern and eastern areas for sunday morning :o surely this is a glitch where an earth has that come from http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn11417.png I have a hunch the Atlantic wont get much further than the central belt of the country over the next few days before the renewed blast comes from the north and east. The jet is tracking way to the south of the UK and as many have mentioned the SSW has weakened anything crossing over the Atlantic. Interesting few days ahead
  7. Had a good half hour or so of snow here in Reading earlier some nice moderate sized flakes, hopefully get some more later Current temp 4.3c but a dew point of -3.2c
  8. Light Sleet on and off here in Reading Monday Still looking good as well
  9. Must say a massive thanks to all those who have contributed to this thread its been fantastic reading/learning about the stratosphere I have a couple of question though in regards to this current cold spell. There was a warming event although only a minor one during late December, is it possible that this may be the cause of this cold spell we are seeing unravel now which in turn could overlap nicely with the SSW filtering down? Or is it the first parts of the SSW filtering down or even that we have just been very lucky although i doubt that is the case. Also sorry if i've overlooked it somewhere, but where is the best place to view stratospheric charts? Many Thanks
  10. I'm sorry but i'm not buying this 06z run at all from the GFS. Its throwing another wobbler like it did the other day, before it changed back to a colder pattern. I don't think it will be cold Armageddon next week but nor do i think there will a full Atlantic onslaught but will be more in the middle, staying cold but turning unsettled at times maybe temperatures returning to near average values particularly further west and south. I do wonder if one of the reasons for the major changes from day to day is the GFS being to progressive in trying to bring in a breakdown then having to backtrack before trying to bring in another breakdown, i know its obviously trying to model other features as well but i can be to progressive even with cold charts for its own good sometimes.
  11. Wow, just wow sums up tonights model runs! Just incredible! Never seen so much snow potential at this range before nor so heavily all agreed by the models (or can't remember ever seeing so) On a selfish note Saturday remains my main interest, could be a very snowy day for Reading and much of Central/SE parts if it verified, don't want to get too attached to anything past that lol The ECM is just insane though having two successive lows sweep through wrapped up in the cold uppers, i can't imagine the amount of snow that would drop in favoured spots Even Devon could get a good covering from the second low, though it could be marginal especially at the coast.
  12. Holy snow balls! just seen the rest of the 06z on the GFS, very nice
  13. I know runs are likely to change but this feature keeps showing up for Tuesday, some potential for the eastern side of the country if it vertifies http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1561.png Looking forward to some more seasonal temperatures over the next few days and hopefully if we are lucky a cheeky bit of snow Will be interesting to see how the rest of this month pans out.
  14. Getting interesting here http://www.wetterzen...cs/Recm2161.gif EDIT: Beaten to it lol
  15. Some incredible stories thanks for sharing everyone I was born in 1989 so can't even begin imagine what it must of been like during the winters of '87, '63 and '47, never seen snow deeper than 2-3 inches deep! Only had my first proper sub zero max here in Reading a few weeks back when it got to just -1.9c before that the coldest day I'd experienced was only a high of -0.6c.
  16. Still -3c in Reading but looks like a winter wonderland outside everything is covered in Rime Frost never seen it this widespread before, if we can't have snow for xmas can we please have this!
  17. -3.6c here in Reading been down to -3.8c been reports of some snizzle but haven't say i've seen any recently though i think i did spot some diamond dust eariler as there were some glittery bits floating in the air
  18. Had some light/ moderate at times snow here in Reading the past 40 mins got a very slight dusting Fizzling out now
  19. Sorry, here's the link to the website http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gfse_cartes.php?ech=204&code=0&mode=0
  20. The GFS run at 300+ hrs has to be one of the best snow charts i've seen for South West England. If by some miracle it came off there would be some serious snow from that low pressure as it bumps into the cold air. The best part is the mild air never reaches even Cornwall! It is F.I but still amazing to see
  21. Sweeet!! I got a small amount but was on my phone and i dont think the quality is very good
  22. Just seen some rotation on a cell that just passed through Reading.Sky is still very threatning hopefully the cells to our south may give us a light show
  23. Still seeing a few distant flashes to the west north-west and north. Nothing overhead for a while hoping the cells to the south may fire up
